Manchester United are not only known for their extraordinary trophy cabinet, but also for their brilliant talent development. Over the years, many brilliant talents have come out from the Manchester United academy. Players like Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobe Mainoo all come from the Manchester United academy. Now, the 17 year-old left-back, Harry Amas, is on the list of those who could make his senior team debut for United soon.
However, it might take some time for Harry Amas to get his first Manchester United start. The 17-year-old moved to Manchester United under 18 from Watford U-18 last year. Amas made 23 appearances with United U-18 and scored two goals before moving to the U-19 squad. Last season, Amas was involved in the Manchester United squad seven times as a substitute player, including in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City. However, the 17-year-old never got the chance to represent Manchester United’s senior team in the last season.
Harry Amas has to wait a little bit before getting his United debut
Harry Amas was featured in all the pre-season friendlies this season for Manchester United. But there was no luck for Harry Amas as he gave no special performance for the Red Devils in the pre-season friendlies. However, it was expected that with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia unavailable for United due to injury, Harry Amas will surely get a chance for United. But in reality that did not happen. With the arrival of right-back, Noussair Mazraoui, from Bayern Munich, Dalot is now being placed in the left-back side for Manchester United by Erik Ten Hag.
United boss Erik Ten Hag believed that Harry Amas was not fully ready for first-team football. The 17-year-old needs a little more development before making his senior team debut for the Red Devils. Amas is maintaining good form at the academy level. However, the United boss believed that that was not enough for making a senior team debut.
This week, Manchester United crushed Barnsley in the Carabao Cup third round by 7-0. This was the biggest win for United under their Dutch manager. Four different goalscorers booked their name in the scoresheet. Erikson, Garnacho, and Rashford all scored a brace with Antony scoring a penalty for the Red Devils. However, Harry Amas was not involved in the squad for United in that match. Antony scored his first goal since April and it was much needed for the Brazilian. United boss Erik Ten Hag is very happy with the team’s performance and eager to continue this form in the upcoming matches.
