Filip Jorgensen could be available for the upcoming Chelsea game. The 22-year-old goalkeeper is recovering from an injury. The keeper would endure an injury during the international break. His involvement in a collision while playing for Denmark U21 resulted in his absence in the Liverpool game. The Dane ended up clashing with his own teammate. As a result, he would take a hit on to the eye. There were scares of a plausible concussion. So, the keeper had to leave the field while playing against Finland. Upon returning to London, the club decided not to play him given the FA guidelines.
What is his condition now?
Filip Jorgensen did not show any signs of severe damage upon returning to Chelsea. But as made clear by football.london, the FA have strict guidelines when it comes to concussion. A player cannot return for a competitive game for at least six days after the injury. So the 22-year-old was not a part of the squad facing Liverpool. But given the guideline and his recovery, he could be playing this Thursday. Many believe that he will start against Panathinaikos in the UECL. It will be interesting to see if he manages to recover in time.
A look at Filip Jorgensen for Chelsea
The 22-year-old made a move from Villareal this summer. The Blues had a surplus of keepers while signing him. But Enzo Maresca was keen to bring him into the fold. In fact, many players were let go of to make room for the Dane. Filip Jorgensen is a key player in Maresca’s B Team. He continues to rotate for Robert Sanchez acting as a solid #2. At the same time, he has started every single UECL game for Chelsea so far. He will be keen to do the same this Thursday.
