Chilean winger Cristian Zavala has made a big confession over his dream move. The 22-year-old is making the news with Chile’s Primera División club Colo Colo. His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed as Zavala has made his breakthrough with the national team as well, making 2 appearances so far. However, the winger was recently linked with Premier League club Arsenal after his comments.
Zavala is yet to test his abilities in Europe, but a move could be on the cards. The Chilean has played an impressive 46 games with Colo Colo since 2019. While speaking to the club’s social media channels, Zavala expressed his love for one particular European club. Moreover, Zavala was further asked which Colo Colo teammate he would pick alongside him to endure on the European journey.
Zavala has answered the questions and in the process, the winger may have just excited the Arsenal fans as well. Arsenal are always in search of raw talent and could have just received all the help they would need if the gunners decide to sign the winger. Surprisingly Zavala first confessed that he “always dreamed” of playing for Arsenal when asked which teammate he would take to Europe with him.
The winger dreams of an Arsenal move
Arsenal are looking to reinforce their squad immensely in the summer as they are fighting for Champions League qualification. However, the gunners are on the hunt for an established striker who would score loads of goals on regular basis. A winger currently is not on the agenda for Arsenal, but Zavala may have just provided them an opportunity to explore.
“I would go to Europe to the club that I have always dreamed of, Arsenal”.
Further, the Chilean answered the question which was asked in the first place. Zavala chose his Colo Colo teammate Maxi Falcon to come along with him to play for a European club.
But the fact that Zavala mentioned Arsenal without any context is enough in itself to prove the winger’s fondness for the gunners. Though it is too much of a risk for Arsenal to sign Zavala, the winger is quite a startling prospect. It was the last season where the winger displayed his true potential. He made 31 appearances for Colo Colo last season, scoring 5 goals and assisting 8.
As Arsenal have their plans ready for the summer, it is highly unlikely that they pursue the winger. But there’s no harm in Edu keeping an eye on Zavala’s progress. While he may not be ready as of now to compete in the premier league, the future could hold something for the Chilean. It looks certain that Zavala is inspired by his fellow countryman Alexis Sanchez‘s heroics at the Emirates.
If all Arsenal anticipates a future move for Zavala, they will definitely have an upper hand in the negotiations given the winger’s latest comments. Who knows Zavala’s dream of representing Arsenal may come true if he keeps on improving his game.
