Aaron Ramsdale, the English goalkeeper is set to return to play for Bournemouth. Ramsdale left Arsenal summer 2024 and joined Southampton FC for 25 million. They are facing relegation now, so Ramsdale is set to join Bournemouth this summer.
Arsenal signed the English keeper in 2021. In the second year Arsenal were pushing for the league title. Ramsdale performance for the club was exceptional. But in summer 2023, Ramsdale gave an interview with Ian Wright. In that he stated, ” Can’t concentrate more than 15 minutes”. Though many would lead this slide, Mikel Arteta didn’t.
Arsenal brought in David Raya as their primary goalkeeper and made Ramsdale a backup. In summer 2024, he left the club and joined Southampton for 25 million. This season Southampton are 20th in the league table, securing just 10 points in 30 games. They are on the verge of getting relegated and Ramsdale doesn’t want to play Championship next season.
Aaron Ramsdale to his Former club?
Aaron Ramsdale still wishes to play in the premier league next season. He has been named in the England squad, and he wants to keep it that way for the 2026 world cup. Playing in the Championship would be a huge setback for his career. His contract with Southampton also includes a relegation release clause, meaning he can leave the club if they are relegated.
Bournemouth on the other hand are 10 in the league table now. They are just 6 points behind Newcastle who are 6 in the table. Andoni Iraola’s side are now looking to sign 2 goalkeepers for their side and Ramsdale is their primary option. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Bournemouth’s keeper, is currently on loan from Chelsea. He was expected to sign on a permanent deal this season. But his recent form has been a concern for the management.
Bournemouth conceded 2 goals against city in the FA cup quarters. Kepa made a huge blunder where Omar Marmoush’s shot went under his body, marking their exit in the FA cup. Ramsdale had already spent 3 years at Bournemouth, being their first-choice keeper. But after they got relegated, he joined Sheffield United to keep playing in the premier league. Now Leeds United and Bournemouth are pushing to sign Ramsdale and Bournemouth have the upper hand in sealing this transfer.

Aaron Ramsdale to Bournemouth makes more sense as he is familiar with the team and the team also needs him. The club sits 10th in the league table and are not fighting relegation. If Ramsdale wishes to keep his name in the England, he must play football at the highest level. The club also isn’t impressed with recent performance of Kepa, so it is expected that he will return to Chelsea. Considering all these situations going in favor of Ramsdale, it is highly expected that Bournemouth will sign him. Both the club and the player will benefit from this transfer. Iraola will now have a reliable keeper for just 25 million and will be looking forward to turning things around upcoming season.
