Adrien Rabiot set to discuss personal terms with Manchester United

According to Jason Burt and Sam Wallace of The Telegraph, Manchester United football director John Murtough is set to meet Veronique Rabiot. She is the mother and agent of Adrien Rabiot. The prospect of moving to Old Trafford will be on the agenda of the meeting.

The Red Devils have already agreed on a transfer fee between £12.5 and 17 million (€15 and 20 million) with Juventus for Rabiot. They will now go on to the next stage of negotiations, which is finding an agreement with the Frenchman’s agents on personal terms.

The 27-year-old, who apparently earns roughly £146,000 (€172,500) per week. He normally would only contemplate joining a team competing in the Champions League. However, the club’s stature is so great that Rabiot can get past this obstacle in order to move to Old Trafford.

Why United Need Rabiot

Scott McTominay and Fred are currently the starting midfield duo. However, they performed poorly in their opener against Brighton. Many have once again questioned if they are the players to make United competitive again.

The alternatives at Old Trafford are not necessarily better. Donny van de Beek failed to adjust to the English top division after his move in the summer of 2020.

As a result, Manchester United are in desperate need of a midfielder. They saw the departures of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic but did not adequately replace them. They have been pursuing Frenkie De Jong, but a deal looks unlikely. The Dutchman prefers to stay at Barcelona.

Their alternative in this scenario is Adrien Rabiot. He may not be as good as De Jong, but can surely be an improvement on United’s current options. In the right conditions, he may be able to fulfil the promise he once showed as a young player.
