Pakistan’s Samaa TV has witnessed a controversial conversation between Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and Ahmed Shehzad. In that interview, Shehzad had expressed frustration on certain issues, especially not getting selected in the team. Shahid Afridi tried to console Shehzad and told that the former supported Shehazad a lot during his captaincy days. Shahid had always considered Shehzad as a man of calibre for Pakistan.
Adding to that, Afridi mentioned about Shehzad being targetted constantly. Shehzad has stayed far away from the choices of Pakistani selectors and team management since 2019. Adding to that, there has been a number of new players coming into the circle. This, eventually has closed all the doors for Shehzad. He is hardly getting any chances despite of trying his level best.

The interview at the Samaa TV has been pretty intense. Shehzad has been expressing frustrations every now and then.
All Shahid Afridi was trying to comfort Shehzad with his words. He said,
“I want you to score runs, enjoy your life with your wife and kids. Allah has made life beautiful for you.”
But the words literally stabbed Shehzad. He was not in the right spirit to accept it. He, thus burst out in frustration. Opportunities are a hard earned subject for Shehzad. When situations are this harsh for him, how can he be scoring runs.
“I repeatedly say this, that I really want to score runs. But they hardly let me play. There’s been no opportunities for me. I will ask you when sides in PSL want to pick me, who comes in and says no? You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home?”
Shehzad was one of those to be big names in Pakistan Cricket early in his career. He scored runs quite consistently. But he had engaged into few controversies. Shehzad made religious comments to veteran Sri Lankan all- rounder Tillakaratne Dilshan back in 2014.
Not only that, Shehzad engaged in a weird encounter with Wahab Riyaz in 2016’s PSL. They both engaged into physical altercations. Riaz, on being threatened by Shehzad, lost his cool. Despite of the umpires trying to cool the situation, things crossed the bar. Both Shehzad and Riyaz gave heavy fines .
