Manchester United stars Alex Telles and Scott McTominay were pictured back in  training at Carrington on Monday.

Manchester United have been given a massive boost with Alex Telles and Scott McTominay returning to training as the International break draws to a close. The duo were pictured in Carrington ahead of the club’s clash with Newcastle on Saturday.

McTominay underwent surgery on a groin injury but vowed to be back on the pitch ahead of schedule. The 24-year-old missed Scotland’s September 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.

United have missed McTominay as one of the double pivots in central midfield. The McTominay-Fred partnership has served the team well in the past. United felt the Scot’s absence last time out against Wolves as the midfield lacked any kind of solidity.

Meanwhile, Telles sustained an ankle injury in pre-season and has not featured since. Although, he looks to be back on the road to full recovery. Telles is currently behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order, but he adds much-needed cover and competition for United.

According to an update on manutd.com, both players have trained intensively, but their involvement against Newcastle on Saturday is still a doubt.

Apart from Telles and McTominay who could be back from injury for United

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson returns to training following a lengthy battle with COVID-19. Defender Teden Mengi is back from injury as well. Marcus Rashford and Phil Jones are still on the sidelines for now.

Jadon Sancho picked up a minor injury on international duty with England. United are hopeful that the £73 million man will be available for selection on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United’s Carrington training base today. He had a chat with new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and took part in training as well. Ronaldo could make his United return on Saturday against Newcastle at Old Trafford.
