Andrea Berta’s first transfer window at Arsenal is likely to be a busy one. It has to be. The battle for the Premier League title is going to be tough. Their transfer activity must be good this time. They must want to fight better than what seems to be three successive second-place finishes.
A new striker is needed and there is a question mark over quality and quantity on the wings. A midfield option will also be looked at. There is a need for a backup goalkeeper as well.
To help Mikel Arteta’s squad, Berta will need to raise some funds. Champions League revenue, along with a successful summer of player exits last year, will go some way come in help.
Arteta has mostly kept his squad small in the last few years. However the amount of injuries this season has been a issue. This creates problems with as many as 11 players potentially leaving.
Another top attacking option
The north London side is said to be preparing a bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Gunners want to beat their rivals to bring in the striker this summer. Their head coach has pointed out about improving the attacking depth.
With sporting director Andrea Berta joining the club, his club has put together a recruitment plan. A list of targets to back-fill their squad for next season is being made. The Swede has been a goal-scoring machine since joining Sporting in 2023, notching up 83 goals in just 91 stadium appearances.
It seems certain he will be departing Sporting CP this summer. He has a โฌ100 million release clause. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the player will not transfer for that price.
However, according to a report with Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha’s Mais Sport, Arsenal is already preparing. The Gunners have apparently organized a formal meeting between the Sweden international’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya, who is reportedly close with Arteta. This friendship may be a good sign for Arsenal in their chase for the forward.
