Alexander Isak news: Newcastle set new price for their striker

Newcastle set new price for Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Alexander Isak.

New price for Alexander Isak

As per reports by the Sun, it is said that now it would take around £160 million to sign the Swedish player. The striker is a top target for Arsenal as per reports.

Newcastle United have no intentions of selling him. The club wants to build a strong team around him. They’ll will sell him only for a huge amount. They’ll let him leave for a Premier League-record fee this summer.

The Sun claims:  “Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their hopes of making Alexander Isak their new No. 9.

“Newcastle have no desire to sell the star and instead want to build a team around him.

“And it would take nearly double the reported £82.9 million fee for them to even respond to any potential bids.

“That means the Swede would be the second costliest player ever. Only below Paris Saint-Germain’s £198 million capture of Neymar from Barcelona in 2017. And above the £163 million PSG paid Monaco for Kylian Mbappe in 2018.

“Isak, 25, has emerged as one of the most coveted players on the planet since his club-record £63 million arrival from Real Sociedad in 2022.”

Eddie Howe & Alexander Isak on the later’s future

Earlier in the season, the Magpies head coach spoke about the situation of Isak. He said: “I think with Alex, he’s got a long contract anyway. And we have to be really careful regarding our spending due to PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules). It’s not a clear-cut situation.

“We of course love him and are desperate for him to stay at Newcastle for many years. And score loads and loads of goals for us, but I don’t see a short-term issue with his contract.”

In December, the 25-year-old striker, himself said that he is not thinking and worried about his future. “Throughout my career, I have never talked about or really commented on the move rumours during the season.

“There have been many such years where it has been talked about. It doesn’t affect me. I am commenting on my situation in Newcastle, and I have never had any problem there.

“I am fully focused on my task there and that we will have a fantastic season. There are still great opportunities for that. I have no thoughts about anything else.

“The only thing I can say is that a lot of information and rumours often come out. Much of what I read is not true. So that’s about all I can say about the whole thing.”

Newcastle to end their 70-year major trophy drought

The Sweden international scored 20 Premier League goals last season. He is now the first Magpies player since legend Alan Shearer twenty years ago to hit the milestone. Isak has already netted 17 in the top-flight this campaign. And he’ll be trying to put an end to Newcastle United’s major title drought for almost 70 years now. He get the chance to do it in the Carabao Cup Final in March.

Although, his current form and great performances has got him attention from many top European clubs. Arsenal, the Toon’s Premier League rivals, are the most keen to have him.

The Gunners are in search of a striker for quite some time. The centre-forward issue may result in costing them the league title fight again. They have had a long-term interest in Isak. They are believing that they’ll be getting their man in the summer.

Author’s Opinion

The kind of hot-run of games Alexander Isak is having is incredible. There’s no doubt on why the Toons are not letting him go that easily. Coming summer will tell us if they manage to make him stay or he leaves for another big European club.
