Alisson is out as Liverpool secured three points after beating Bournemouth

Liverpool are back in the winning ways in the Premier League after beating Bournemouth at home. Liverpool went into the international break after losing the match against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. However, they were able to win their first Champions League fixtures against AC Milan in San Siro. Arne Slot is very happy with his performance at the League level and also in the Champions League. Amidst good news, there is bad news for all the Liverpool fans as their first-choice goalkeeper Alisson is suffering from a muscle injury.

Alisson is Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper with Caoimhin Kelleher is the second option that Liverpool had. But for now, Alisson really needs some rest after the Brazilian picked up a muscle injury. Alisson was in the goal for Liverpool against AC Milan in the Champions League. However, against Bournemouth, Alisson couldn’t appear. So, Liverpool brought in the second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher for that match.

Alisson is out from the Liverpool squad for the Bournemouth match

Caoimhin Kelleher made 26 appearances for Liverpool last season in the absence of Alisson due to injury. This is the first appearance Kelleher made in this season for the Reds. There was lots of speculation going on at the end of the summer transfer window that Arne Slot is going to invest money in a new goalkeeper. But in the end, all the rumors went in vain as the Reds continued with the existing goalkeeper.

It was a great start for Kelleher in the new season for Liverpool in the absence of Alisson as the 25-year-old managed to keep the clan sheet in his first appearance. It was an all-around performance by the Liverpool goalkeeper. The 25-year-old made seven saves in the match including one important one in the first half. The long ball pass and short pass were also good by Kelleher in the match. The Irish International showed his class and also proved why Liverpool refrained from signing a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Last season Kelleher made 26 appearances across all competitions and 10 of them in the Premier League. Kelleher made a good impression in the last season under the former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. As the manager changed at the start of this season and with Alisson still the main goalkeeper for Liverpool, many thought that Kelleher might leave the club or join any other club on loan. However, the 25-year-old once again came to rescue Liverpool.

More Liverpool news

The Hammers lost to Manchester City at home, followed by a draw with Fulham, and then again a loss at home against Chelsea last weekend. On the other hand, Liverpool are coming into the match with two wins in their last three matches including the win over AC Milan.

The last time these two sides met in the Carabao Cup, the Reds crushed the Hammers by 5-1. It is expected that Kelleher will continue his presence in the Liverpool shirt in place of Alisson in the Carabao Cup against West Ham United.
