Amadou Haidara can be the first Manchester United signing under Ralf Rangnick

According to several reports, Amadou Haidara could be Manchester United’s first signing under the Ralf Rangnick era. Haidara could be a United player next month if the club pays his £32 million release clause. However, Ralf has mentioned that it will be tough to make January signings for the club.

Manchester United just secured their first win under Rangnick’s first game managing the club. United were very much improved and were in control of the game just as Rangnick likes it. However, Rangnick later mentioned in the conference that he did not like some square passes from McTominay and Fred. This is where the talks about a new midfielder emerge. Ralf Rangick had previously identified three signings for the club which also included Amadou Haidara. Rangnick likes forward passing players and McTominay and Fred are not exactly that kind of players. Moreover, if Pogba departs, United will have to have a replacement for the French international.

A release clause of £32 million is not much of an issue for a club like Manchester United. The Red Devils should support their new manager as much as possible. Rangnick’s influence was very much visible in only one training session. The players are not familiar with a high pressing system and will take time to be comfortable with it. This process may take some time and the signing of Amadou Haidara can decrease some time of that process. This is because Haidara is a player that Rangnick likes and is familiar with the high pressing system unlike the players at United who will have to adapt. Moreover, there is not much on an issue about his AFCON duties which is a good sign for the club.

What can Amadou Haidara bring to Ralf Rangnick’s side?

So far this season, the Mali international has been in excellent form for RB Leipzig. In various statistics, Haidara has outperformed Fred, Nemanja Matic, and Scott McTominay at the start of this season’s matches. Furthermore, only McTominay can compete with Haidara in successful dribbles, with the pair averaging 1.1 dribbles per game. He also has excellent control of the ball at his feet, with only 0.9 poor touches per match (via whoscored). However, the midfielder is prone to being dispossessed once a game, putting the United center-backs in jeopardy. When you consider his forward-thinking mindset, this isn’t surprising.

Ralf Rangnick has previously worked with Amadou Haidara at RB Salzburg. The German admired the qualities of the 23-year-old and may go forward to sign him at United. Haidara has also been vocal about how much he wants to play for Manchester United and that this is his dream club. These factors add to the possibility of this signing and also make the player confident of being successful at the club. A departing Pogba can hurt United however the signing of Haidara can make a very good replacement for the Frenchman.

Amadou Haidara can solve almost all the midfield issues of Manchester United. Ralf Rangnick has previously signed Amadou Haidara for RB Salzburg and can do the same at United. However, Rangnick has previously mentioned that a January signing is difficult. Nevertheless, United can profit a lot from Haidara and can start dominating midfields in the league. United have already kept an eye on Haidara’s performances and may proceed to trigger his release clause.
