Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Andrea Belotti on a free transfer, according to a report by the Spanish outlet Fichajes. The Italian is a free agent after his contract with Torino expired at the beginning of the month.
Bellotti has been underrated for quite some time by football fans. In the past five years, he amassed an impressive record of 113 goals and 28 assists in 251 appearances for the Granata. Some of his individual campaigns played a significant role in keeping Torino in Serie A. He has even been called up to the national team and was a part of their victorious Euro 2020 campaign.
The 28-year-old is now on the radar of the Los Blancos. They do require attacking additions in light of the exits of Luka Jovic, Gareth Bale, and perhaps Marco Asensio. A deputy number 9 is also a priority, and Belotti can be a solid option for that role.
Belotti: A Reliable Deputy To Benzema
Karim Benzema is one of the top attackers in the world at the moment. It is no short of a blessing for Real Madrid to have him on their team. Last season, Benzema demonstrated his ability and mentality by scoring hat-tricks against Chelsea and PSG on the way to a Champions League victory, along with decisive goals against Manchester City in both legs.
However, the only downside to having him is his age. He appears to be in superb physical condition despite that. But starting the season with the Frenchman as the only striker in the lineup would not be a good idea, especially in with the congestion due to a mid-season World Cup.
Andrea Belotti can be a good option off the bench for Carlo Ancelloti if he wishes to change things up. We may also see him play alongside Benzema to allow some tactical flexibility. It will be interesting to see how this saga develops.
