Another Club In The Mix For Frenkie De Jong?

Bayern Munich has emerged as an alternative destination for Frenkie De Jong, should he leave the Nou Camp this summer. Manchester United and Barcelona agave been in negotiations for a long time now for the Dutchman. But De Jong is not ready to join the Red Devils.

Barcelona may be forced to sell the 25-year-old superstar in order to balance their books and help their financial situation. While De Jong is not in favour of a move to Old Trafford, Sport claims that Bayern Munich have entered the fray for his signature.

However, the source also states that de Jong is open to the prospect of joining Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, where he could routinely contend for major honours while also remaining near to his home country.

Where Will De Jong End Up?

Bayern Munich have recently completed the acquisition of De Jong’s former Ajax teammate Matthijs De Ligt. A move to the Allianz Arena can reunite the two 2018/19 UCL semi-finalists. De Ligt and De Jong were the two standout players on Ten Hag’s famous Ajax team. They later joined Juventus and Barcelona, respectively.

It appears that United haven’t given up on trying to sign Frenkie De Jong. CEO Richard Arnold and director of football John Murtough met Barcelona executives in the city last week to talk about the move. Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen’s moves were completed by the club this summer, and Lisandro Martinez’s signing is rumoured to be on the horizon.

However, their requirement for a defensive midfielder has not been met yet. In the event of De Jong not coming to Manchester, Erik Ten Hag may look to play Martinez in midfield. The Argentinian international has experience playing in that position, and can do a good job there.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will be on De Jong’s case. Chelsea are suitors too, but only a big offer can persuade the Blaugrana to sell to them.
