Antoine Semenyo: Liverpool’s interest in the Bournemouth striker

Antoine Semenyo has been linked to a move to Liverpool this winter transfer window, according to The Sun.

Antoine Semenyo To Anfield

This season Antoine has been one of Bournemouth’s key players. He has been receiving a lot of attention from top England teams including the Reds.

Having made a strong start to the season, Arne Slot has been successful in doing this without any signings this season.

The Merseyside team are currently the leaders of both the Premier League and Champions League. They might want to add more strength to their squad in order to compete with other European clubs for the trophies.

Under Manager Andoni Iraola, the Ghana international has had some great performances. As a result, making him a main target this transfer window. Both Liverpool and Newcastle have shown interest in signing him this January.

Antoine Semenyo: Salah’s Replacement

The signing of the 25 year-old winger could be taken as Salah’s long term replacement at the club.

The Egyptian international is yet to sign a new contract with the team. With time ticking, his future is surely becoming uncertain at Anfield.

Replacing him would be a difficult task for the forward. Taking the position of one of the Red’s all time best player is definitely not going to be easy for anyone coming in.

Another star winger, Luis Diaz, could be leaving the Merseyside club after rejecting a new contract offer.

This could mean that the Cherries man can make some difference at the Reds, should the move happen.

Potential 50m Swap Deal

The Reds have been calm in this winter market. The club’s take on the January transfer window has got some mix reactions from the supporters.

This window has seen no big arrivals or exits yet from the squad. Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes has justified this approach as a part of long-term vision. Making the opportunities count to make the squad stronger only at the right time.

Scoring five goals in 19 starts so far, Semenyo has grabbed attention from several teams in England.

His technical ability, pace and with physicality, he has become a great option to various clubs. Also not to forget his defensive contributions while being counter-attacked.

Bournemouth’s interest in Ben Doak might help the situation and make this deal happen.

The Scottish international has been in good form in his loan spell at Middlesbrough in the Championship. Under Micheal Carrick, he managed 8 goal contributions in 21 matches.

However, the high price, around £50m may discourage the Reds from going all in for that deal with the Cherries.

Another Big Departure From Bournemouth

Another big player leaving like Dominic Solanke to Tottenham will definitely change the Cherries future. With a deal of £65m, initially £55m, the club sold Solanke to the Spurs recently.

Bournemouth value Antoine as much as they did Solanke. He has a five-year contract at place and the club also want a talent like him to stay following Dominic Solanke’s exit.

For any team in the top half of the Premier League, the striker would be a great signing, reports suggests. Some Champions League and Europa League sides will be willing to have him on their side. Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle keen to sign him. Bournemouth may find it difficult to keep the striker at the Vitality Stadium. Particularly if one of them meets the required valuation.

Author’s Opinion

Bournemouth fans may not be pleased by the concerns of Semenyo’s exit. He has been a key player for the squad. With not only his attacking abilities but also with his commitment. For the Liverpool fans, the potential signing may bring excitement. However, with the Cherries asking for a high price, this move may get exciting if any team decides to sign him.
