Anton Ferdinand believes Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta must give his youngster a reality check now

Pundit Anton Ferdinand suggests Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta must give 22-year old a reality check. Ferdinand believes Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka must have a taste of by the management at the moment. Although he is the top scorer and assister for the Gunners this season, he has been largely disappointing lately. The English winger has scored just goal and no assists in last seven games. It was a sure shot that Saka needs to improve despite playing a full 90 minutes against Crystal Palace.

Saka has been absolutely sensational throughout his time in the Arsenal first-team. He was one of the few shining lights when he first broke into the side. And he quickly became one of the club’s best players. However, he is not looking that sharp in this campaign si far. Speaking on The Take On, Ferdinand says that it is the time Arteta should take him off the team sheet.

In terms of Saka, sometimes as footballers, and I’ve been there, sometimes you need a kick up the bum. But whether you have one or not, he’s in a rut right now. Sometimes it might be ‘come out, because you’re not good enough right now’.

It gives him a reality check. I need to up my game again. Because he’s still young by the way. He’s young, so young players need that. I think Saka is in need of that right now.”

The Englishman is definitely a gem of the game in terms of his abilities. He was also a sensation for the club over the past few years but this season it’s different. It is fair to say that opponents now have the idea to deal with the threat at wing. It was also inevitable that his form will drop some day. But if it continues to go downstream like this, Arteta must consider giving him a rest for a few games.
