Antonio Conte Gives Verdict On Pape Matar Sarr

Antonio Conte will make a decision on Pape Matar Sarr after pre-season. The youngster made his first Tottenham appearances during their pre-season tour in South Korea against Team K-League and Sevilla.

The midfielder is yet to make his competitive debut for the Lilywhites. He was loaned out to Metz immediately after joining Spurs on a permanent basis last summer.

In a closely contested match at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, Tottenham defeated the Team K-League by a score of 6-3. Sarr was named among the substitutes and came on at half-time. This was followed by another 30-minute cameo against Sevilla on Saturday.

How Did Sarr Fare?

Sarr looked tidy in possession, and was not afraid to attempt progressive passes. He played as the deepest midfielder in a 3-4-3 formation. However, with the presence of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp and the recent acquisition of Yves Bissouma, the Senegalese prodigy will find game time hard to come by.

When asked about his thoughts on the midfielder, Conte acknowledged his talent. However, a loan move may be on the cards according to the Italian gaffer.

He’s a young player. Good prospect. Will be the future for Tottenham. We have Sarr and other young players and we will try with the club to take the best decision for them. It will be very important to take the best decision about whether to stay at Tottenham or go out on loan and play with regularity.

Pape Matar Sarr has shown great potential during his time in senior football. If he can get more minutes on the pitch, he can develop into a fine player. This may not be the case at Tottenham this season. It will be interesting to see how his career pans out.
