Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Antonio Rudiger priority is to stay at Chelsea. And sign a new long-term deal at the club.

Antonio Rudiger’s contract is set to expire in nine months. And he is allowed to talk to any foreign European club and sign a pre-contract. Rudiger is demanding a £400k a week contract from Chelsea. This contract would see him become of the highest-paid players in the Chelsea squad and in the Premier League.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are keen on bringing in the German defender on a free transfer. And are happy to hand him the demanded £400k a week contract.

Rudiger similarly looked set to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge a couple of years ago. After he had fallen out of favour under Frank Lampard. But with Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Chelsea Antonio Rudiger has been a key figure and leader at the back. And played a key role in Chelsea winning the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea had the best defensive record in the competition last season. Rudiger has been ever-present in Chelsea’s defence since Tuchel took over.

Contract agreement between Chelsea and Antonio Rudiger still far from reached

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Rudiger’s priority is to stay at Chelsea. The talks are still ongoing on the new contract between his agent and the club. But the total agreement on the new contact is still far from being reached.

Chelsea’s contract offer has been on the table since the start of the season. Chelsea’s latest contract offer was worth around £130,000 a week. Rudiger and his agent felt disrespected and massively underappreciated by Chelsea. But the situation may have changed as news coming out now says Rudiger’s priority is to stay at Chelsea. But the race is still open as the agreement on the new contact is far from done.
