Argentina have been crowned again as the champions of South America again, they have now won two consecutive Copa America champions after beating Colombia by 1-0 in the final.
After Argentina won the Copa America, the Argentinian journalist have given their views and thoughts on Man City star striker Julian Alvarez.
Argentina have now won the Copa America for the 16th time, which is the highest by any country, before them, uruguay was the one who owned the record. Argentina won their 16th Copa America because of the only goal of the game scored by Lautaro Martinez and he scored the goal in the extra time and took his team to the victory.
Because of the security issues the final was shifted to the Hard Rock Stadium and when the game started it looked that the game is being played in a cage.
At the start of the match Colombia started their game with a attacking intend at first and they put Argentina at the back foot. Argentina recovered from this but
they suffered a very big blow as Lionel Messi got injure and needed to substituted.
Why did Julian Alvarez was unable to perform for Argentina
Both the team got around almost the same number of chances to score the goals, but both the teams were unable to do it. The match went into too deep into the extra time, Lautaro Martinez came from the bench in 112th minute and scored the winning goal for the team and won the back to back Copa America.
After the match, some journalist gave their reviews on how did Julian Alvarez played in the final. The Argentinian manager Lionel Scaloni choose Alvarez to start in the final for the second time after the world cup and Martinez to start from the bench.
Before the final, Alvarez started three games for Argentina and he also scored two goals in the two games especially the one he scored against Canada.
He had a very good tournament, he was leading his team in the attack till final, but in the final against Colombia he was unable to produce his masterclass as he did in other matches and this became a major concern for them in the final and Colombia took advantage of that.
According to the data, Julian Alvarez only had just one shot in the game and even that shot was off target, it was one of the worst game he has ever played in his career till now.
He faced a lot of struggle to find a way to fit in the team and to make himself involved in the game, it was like that Argentina was playing with only ten men. Julian Alvarez did not played a good game but he would not care as the only thing he care is Argentina winning the final. Let’s forget that and concentrate on other things like, it was his second Copa America and he has already won the World Cup.
He has now become a very decorated player only at the age of 24, where he has won the league multiple titles and has already won a World cup and the champions league. There are some rumors that the player does not have the same fire inside him anymore to fight for the titles.
