Arne Slot impresses before the press in his first conference as Liverpool boss!

Former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot officially became the new Liverpool manager following the departure of Jurgen Klopp! Slot will be facing a tough time to replace the German coach.

Klopp’s legacy at Liverpool is simply legendary. The German would propel the Reds to 3 UEFA Champions League finals winning 1 in his 9-year stint. Moreover, he would also guide them to their first League title triumph of the Premier League era. Liverpool have been a team to watch and look out for under Klopp.

The Dutchman recognizes the bond the former coach shared with the Liverpool fans. Furthermore, Arne Slot would go on to state how difficult it would be to replace Klopp at Liverpool. He went on to say:

“They are big shoes to fill but you can look at it as inheriting a squad and a team which has a winning culture”.

Slot is happy with the current squad he has at his disposal and he acknowledges the talent of the roster. The Dutchman understands that expectations at Anfield are high. Additionally, Liverpool fans will be expecting to see their side challenge for the league title and go deep into Europe as well. Especially, after staying at the summit for long in the league ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City.

Subsequently, Arne Slot will be looking to settle in quick and hit the ground running with Liverpool.

Slot on working with Richard Hughes: “For me it is not a change”!

Owing to changes in management structure, Arne Slot will be the first Head Coach in Liverpool history. Although, Slot will have to work closely and in harmony with Sporting Director Richard Hughes. The two will be coordinating to manage transfers at Anfield.

However, Slot was quick to disregard the issue stating he has no problem with the situation. He said:

“For me it is not a change, in Europe we work like this and I’ve worked at Feyenoord and my former clubs like this.”

The Dutchman would also praise the quality of Liverpool squad. Furthermore, Slot has already confirmed Darwin Nunez as an integral part in his plans. Slot revealed that he has a liking towards the Uruguayan and he feels he will fit well into his plans.

Although, the Dutchman hasn’t been particularly open about the areas of the roster that he intends to strengthen. He would further stress upon the significance of having a stable squad and a good team chemistry.

Arne Slot shines in his first Liverpool press conference!

Slot would seem calm, composed and clear with his plans for the Reds. Furthermore, he would also state that he wants to retain most of the current roster. He discussed how almost 8-10 players would leave after every season at Feyenoord. Whereas, for Liverpool, he wants Hughes to retain most of the players at Anfield and rebuild again.

Apparently, Jamie Carragher was quite pleased with the Slot’s first press conference for Liverpool. He said:

“I thought he came across really well in his first press conference!”

On the other hand, Richard Hughes will be keen to secure the future of key players Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent-Alexander Arnold at Liverpool. Hughes further added that despite the contractual situations, he is more concerned about the commitment of the players. Moreover, the Reds will be employing an “opportunistic” approach in this year’s summer transfer window.

Arne Slot will be hoping to hit the ground running at Liverpool. Moreover, considering the changes in staff and management, Slot will be keen to establish stability in the backroom. It will be interesting to see where Liverpool end up next season. Especially, with key players ageing and Slot’s first season at the helm!
