Arsenal and Liverpool eyeing £40million midfielder

According to reports, Liverpool and Arsenal both want to sign Leicester City star midfielder Youri Tielemans in January. Tielemans are being linked with a departure move from Leicester. Liverpool are interested in him, Arsenal also admires the midfielder and reportedly would want to make a move in January.

Arsenal have a slightly better chance to sign Tielemans

Well, reputed journalist, Fabrizio Romano has said that the Gunners have a good chance to land the signing of Tielemans.

Writing on CaughtOffside, He wrote:

“There’s ongoing speculation about who Arsenal could look to sign in midfield this January,”

“And one name I’m seeing more about is Danilo of Palmeiras.

“Danilo is one of the players Arsenal have been following for a long time.

“He was also discussed internally last summer but at the moment there are no talks ongoing.

“We’ll see if that changes, but for now I’d take any rumours of negotiations or bids with a pinch of salt.

“Personally, I think Youri Tielemans coming towards the end of his contract is a great opportunity on the market for Arsenal and any other club!

“They decided not to pay for him this summer, but let’s see if their plans change if or when he becomes a free agent.”

Tielemans contract expires next summer

Tielemans joined Leicester from Monaco in 2019. The Belgian has made 185 appearances across all competitions and has registered 35 goals and 31 assists.

However, The 25-year-old’s contract expires next summer, and is yet to sign a new deal with Leicester. Foxes boss Brendon Rogers has spoken in a press conference about Tielemans.

He said:

“Youri provides the team with a great know-how in the game. He’s a wonderful player to work with. I’ll just continue to work and develop his game while he’s here, however long that is. I’d love him to sign another deal and continue his journey here. We’ll see in the coming months,”
