Todd Boehly invested a lot of money for Chelsea, and they bought a player called Mykhailo Mudryk who was also linked with Arsenal.
Tussle for Mykhailo Mudryk between Chelsea and Arsenal
When Graham Potter was appointed as the new Chelsea manager, the Blues bought some seriously talented players which includes Mykhailo Mudryk, Malo Gusto, Enzo Fernandez, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke.
After seeing the talent of Mykhailo Mudryk, Chelsea bought him for £89m. At that time Arsenal couldn’t beat this transfer fee. Actually, Arsenal made a bid for the young Ukrainian and Shaktar wanted more, and Chelsea took an opportunity of this situation.
So, this is how Todd Boehly was able to land the talented winger on the soil of Stamford Bridge. In a home game of English Premier League, he was also revealed to the Chelsea fans.
Mudryk’s career so far
Mykhailo Mudryk is an Ukrinian player who started his journey as a freestyle footballer. He used to make YouTube videos of his freestyle football skills. Later he started his professional football career at Shaktar Donesk.
After spending a lot of time in the youth team, he was called into the first eleven by former Shaktar coach Roberto De Zerbi. In that team young Mudryk shined like a gem. He was so fast and skillful that the opponents used to mark him before he can make any run.
Roberto De Zerbi turned him into a lethal left winger who can traumatize any team. He delivered master class performances in UEFA Champions League. Mudryk frightened the entire backline of a team like Real Madrid.
He made his Chelsea debut against Liverpool where he showed glimpses of his talent. In a couple of minutes, he shook the entire Liverpool backline. By seeing this he was being compared with Chelsea legend Eden Hazard.
As soon as the season progressed, his career took a different turn. Gradually he became a hated figure at the Stamford Bridge because he used to miss a lot of chances. His moves became predictable to the opponent. Soon the managers side lined him.
Arsenal fans certainly enjoyed this sight. The Arsenal fans are comparing Chelsea player Mudryk with Belgian left winger Leandro Trossard. According to football transfers, the Belgian as scored 13 premier league goals for Arsenal. On the other hand, Mudryk scored five times for the Blues.
Future of Chelsea
Last season, Chelsea finished sixth in English Premier league and Arsenal finished at the second place. Mauricio Pochettino was able to build a standard team out of the scrap.
At the ending of 2023-2024 season, the Blues were performing better than their previous games.
The fans are excited to see Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea team because he is the one who brings on something out of the box. He has worked under some legendary managers such as Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola, and many more.
He takes idea from different managers and combine them all together. On top of that he mixes some of his own ideas. These things make Enzo Maresca a great coach.
But it is certain that his system needs a defender who can carry the ball over the half line. At the same time other players will help to him to play triangle passes. This is how Maresca’s system runs. The basic concept of his system is to play from the backline. We haven’t seen Mykhailo Mudryk in a pre-season game for Chelsea in this season.
Mykhailo Mudryk is calm and composed with the ball at his feet. He is different from other wingers because the Ukrainian loves to move forward with the ball. He always tries to create goalscoring opportunities for Chelsea.
