Arsenal are reportedly no longer showing interest in signing Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window. This is also because of the new contract signed with Aston Villa.
It is also because of his importance for their new manager Unai Emery. Hence, it looks like the Gunners will try to focus on signing another midfielder in January.
ARSENAL AND DOUGLAS LUIZ TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY
According to new reports, Arsenal are no longer showing interest in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. It is because of a number of reasons. The number one reason is Villa are no longer under pressure. Aston Villa’s dressing room is not toxic and Unai Emery is also helping him develop. Another reason is he has also signed a new long-term contract. Therefore, they will certainly demand 60-70 million for the Brazilian midfielder to even consider selling him in the future.
Transfer expert Ryan Taylor has also said that Arsenal have ended their interest in Douglas Luiz. He further said,
“In the summer, Arsenal made a late move for Douglas Luiz. Their interest has now ended because his contract has been extended at Aston Villa. “That was a key factor behind Arsenal’s interest – Villa were under pressure to consider offers because Douglas Luiz was in the final 12 months of his contract.”
However, a report also claims that the Gunners continue their search for a midfielder in January.
THE GUNNERS WANT TO SIGN A MIDFIELDER IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
It is clearly evident that Arsenal wants to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window. A report also claimed that Jesper Lindstrom and Danilo were on the top of the midfielders list. However, that reports have also disappeared. Hence, it looks like the Gunners are trying to sign a completely different midfielder that is not in the eyes of the media. A number of reports are also linking the Gunners with Sergej Milinkovic Savic. However, the transfer looks tough because Lazio will demand at least 80 million for their superstar midfielder.
Therefore, all the media links look quite off the mark. There is also a chance that they will not sign a new midfielder in the January transfer window. It is because in the last few games Albert Sambi Lokonga is playing well enough in the cup games. Hence, it is clear that he could do the job as a substitute. Therefore, Mikel Arteta needs to have a conversation with the Belgian midfielder about his future. Mohamed Elneny is also getting to full fitness in the recent games.
Hence, there is a chance that Arsenal will first try to complete the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk and the new potential striker. This is because both winger and striker positions need depth. Hence, there is also a possibility that the Gunners will put the remaining money into a young midfielder. Hence, this would mean selling or loaning out Albert Sambi Lokonga.
