Arsenal does not want to reportedly sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie. Many reports suggested there was a deal to be done between the two clubs.
However, the current update is there is no interest in the American midfielder. Although, there is still a chance of the situation changing in January.
ARSENAL AND WESTON MCKENNIE TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are not working on a deal to sign Weston McKennie. The USA-international currently plays for Juventus. However, Juventus are open to a possible sale of the midfielder in the January transfer window. Hence, the name of the Gunners was brought into the rumors. Another reason is also that Mikel Arteta wants to sign a midfielder in January.
Although, Romano clarifies that the player will not be Weston McKennie. He further said,
“Arsenal are not working on a deal for Weston McKennie as of today; then we will see in January. “He was a target for Tottenham one year ago. However, nothing happened as Juventus never wanted to let him go on loan. Romano added: “I’m aware of the speculation that Weston McKennie is a target for Arsenal. However, there are no talks.
THE JUVENTUS MIDFIELDER HAS THE OPTION OF TOTTENHAM OPEN IN JANUARY
A number of reports also claim that Tottenham are still monitoring his situation. The report also claims that they were interested in signing in to him. However, Juventus won the race for his signature. Although, they have not lost hope of signing. Former Juventus and current Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici remains a big admirer of the midfielder.
He was the man to convince the midfielder to sign Juventus. Hence, it looks like the name of Arsenal was used to make Tottenham aware of his situation. Many reports also claim that the midfielder is open to an exit from the Italian giants. However, Juventus will ask for a fee of 25m-30m for the midfielder. Although, his wages should not be a problem for any interested clubs.
Hence, Arsenal will surely try to a different midfielder other than McKennie. The report also claims that the Gunners want to sign a dynamic midfielder. Hence, the rumor of McKennie to the Gunners is just another baseless rumor for the January transfer window.
