Arsenal are set to appoint a new manager

At this moment, multiple media sources are claiming that Arsenal are set to bring in a new manager for their team. But this one is for the women’s team. It is being said that former Manchester City manager Nick Cushing is the new candidate for this job.

Cushing has a successful managerial career because he won four major trophies with Man City. On top of that, he has won the Women’s Super League title with City back in 2016. The Gunners are serious about this managerial appointment because Jonas Eidevall has stepped down from the manager position. Nick Cushing is currently managing MLS side New York City FC. He joined the MLS side as an assistant head coach. But Cushing has experience with the Women’s Super League.

Future

According to the BBC, Eidevall resigned on 15th October. At this moment, Arsenal have a lot of difficult fixtures in the upcoming days. On 3 November, they will be playing Manchester United at the Old Trafford. After that, on 10th November, Brighton & Hove Albion will be their opponent at the Emirates Stadium.
The big test will come on November 17, when they will face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. If the team doesn’t perform well under the interim manager, things might get worse for the club and for the fans. There is still time for a late redemption. The only way is to bring in a new head coach who has a proper game plan.

All the other clubs are performing well. This season, Chelsea also hired a new manager, called Natasha Bompastor. Following the departure of Emma Hayes, they are still doing quite well under the new manager. Recently, Chelsea have defeated the Gunners, where the latter played without any proper head coach. This is quite ordinary in modern-day football.

Currently, Renee Slegers is managing the Arsenal women’s team as an interim manager. In the meantime, the board is also looking for other options as a backup plan. Within 5th November, Nick Cushing’s New York City FC are going to face Cincinnati in the MLS (Major League Soccer) playoffs. This will be one of the most exciting and feisty fixtures in MLS. It is expected that Cushing might leave the American club at the end of this season.

On the other hand, Arsenal need an urgent appointment for the vacant position at the North London club. For now, they have put faith in their interim manager, Slegers. But this won’t be an effective solution for the long term. That is why the Gunners are looking for a proper head coach.

There are several free-agent managers available in the market. Emma Hayes is certainly one of them. She has a vast experience in the Women’s Super League. At this moment, Arsenal Women’s team director Clare Wheatley and Edu Gasper are both trying to find a worthy candidate for this managerial job. But multiple media outlets are claiming that New York City head coach Nick Cushing is leading the front-line in this managerial saga.

Why did Eidevall leave Arsenal?

This season, the Arsenal women’s team was not performing well under the management of Jonas Eidevall. On top of that, they were having one of the worst seasons in their history. Although the Swedish head coach had two more years left in his current contract, he decided to leave the club with mutual agreement. The reason might be either the fans were not happy with the performances or the

The manager didn’t see any hope of redemption.

This happened on 15th October. Since then, the Gunners are without a proper tactician. This is certainly not expected from a prestigious club like Arsenal. As a result, they are losing one-after-another games in the Women’s Super League.
