Arsenal could reportedly loan out Albert Sambi Lokonga in the January transfer window

Arsenal could reportedly loan out Albert Sambi Lokonga in the January transfer window. Ligue 1 giants Monaco also made a loan bid for the Belgian midfielder.

However, the Gunners have ended up rejecting the offer. This is because the Gunners want to sign a midfielder before allowing the Belgian to leave on a temporary basis this season.

ARSENAL ARE LOOKING TO SIGN A MIDFIELDER BEFORE THE END OF THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

According to reports, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to sign a new midfielder before the end of the January transfer window. They have already signed Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior in January. However, it looks like Arteta now wants to improve his midfield in the January transfer window. A number of reports also claimed that the Gunners would sign a marquee midfielder in the next summer transfer window. However, it looks like Arteta and the owners do not want to take the risk with the title challenge this season.

Therefore, a number of agents are offering their clients to the clubs. At the moment, names like Ibrahima Bamba, Youri Tielemans, Moises Caicedo, and Jesper Lindstrom are leading the list. Hence, it looks a new midfielder signing is a very big priority for Arsenal in the January transfer window. The potential midfield signing will allow them to have squad depth in the team for the remainder of the season. However, the new potential midfield also raises doubts about the future of Albert Sambi Lokonga.

ALBERT SAMBI LOKONGA SHOULD LEAVE THE CLUB ON LOAN OR PERMANENTLY

Arsenal rejected a loan bid from AS Monaco for Albert Sambi Lokonga. However, this bid was earlier in the window. Although, it looks like the French giants can again reignite their interest. This is because Mikel Arteta is open to letting him leave on loan if he can sign a new midfielder before the end of the transfer window. The midfielder is also open to the move. Hence, his agent is trying his best to push the AS Monaco move. AS Monaco are reportedly ready to pay his full wages and a loan fee for his signature.

Hence, now everything depends on Arsenal getting a new midfielder signing in the squad. Albert Sambi Lokonga signed from Anderlecht for a fee of 17.2 million. Many including Vincent Kompany compared him to Yaya Touré. However, the Belgian midfielder has failed to perform well for the Gunners. Hence, he has only made 6 appearances this season under Mikel Arteta. It also looks like Arteta does not trust his ability. Hence, Arsenal should sell him for the right price to avoid losses on his sale.

However, Arsenal have also made it clear that they are open to keeping him at the club till the end of the season. Although, this will only happen if the Gunners fail to make a new midfielder signing in the January transfer window. However, one thing is sure the Gunners did have a 100 million money chest for the January transfer window.
