Arsenal edging closer to secure Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres!

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are on the road to sign 26-year old Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting. However, the Gunners will have to negotiate with Sporting to make the move permanent.

Arsenal had a fantastic season under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners made a return to the UEFA Champions League and would go on to play the Quarter Finals against Bayern Munich. Moreover, Arsenal would battle Manchester City till the end of a thrilling Premier League title race. Although, the Gunners would miss out on the title by mere 2 points!

Regardless, Arsenal’s patience with Arteta has paid off. The Spaniard has built a good, young and competitive squad despite his rocky start at the Emirates. However, the Gunners are yet to taste any major silverware.

Regardless, Arsenal could be the top contenders for the league title in the upcoming season. Provided, they reinforce and increase squad depth of their roster. Title contenders like Manchester City will be witnessing many exits with an ageing squad. Additionally, Liverpool are also under transition under new manager Arne Slot. Furthermore, it seems rather unlikely that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa would be contending for the title just yet.

Consequently, the Gunners may just be back to clinching silverware if they have a great transfer window and play their cards right.

Do Arsenal need a new striker?

Arsenal are edging closer to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting. Sporting want €100 million for the striker. Although, reports suggest that Arsenal are working to bring down the price to €65-85 million. Furthermore, the Gunners are pushing to close down the deal before pre-season.

At the same time, no news has yet been reported by any major Portuguese media outlets. Therefore, Arsenal fans may have to strap themselves in anticipation. Meanwhile, the Gunners are also considering move for Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen. However, Sesko has made it clear that he shall continue at Leipzig. Moreover, Osimhen is also wanted by London-rivals Chelsea!

Some fans are wondering if Arsenal really need a striker altogether. The Gunners already house Gabriel Jesus as a quality striker. Although, injuries have been a major concern for him. Regardless, former Chelsea player Kai Havertz was great in his first season at the Emirates. The German is playing exceptionally and could fill in the center forward role. But, he will have to be more consistent in goal getting.

Eddie Nketiah also remains a key player. But, the striker will have to improve before becoming a regular. Moreover, Arsenal are already considering to reinforce other areas of their squad. Consequently, splurging for a striker may hinder their budget altogether.

Perhaps the Gunners are just waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Needless to say, if Arsenal do find someone quality, they will really be giving Manchester City a run for their money!
