Arsenal eyeing ‘extraordinary’ striker after Watkins deal collapsing

Arsenal looking for a move for an amazing attacker after Ollie Watkins deal becomes impossible.

Arsenal are unlikely to sign Aston Villa star

The Gunners remain active, as the winter transfer window has three days left. Mikel Arteta is looking to sign a new center-forward before the Monday deadline.

The Gunners’ bid for Watkins was rejected earlier this week. The second bid for the Aston Villa man also seems to fail.

Because Villa sold Jhon Duran to Al Nassr, the north London cannot sign the Englishman. Unai Emery is keeping his other striker. And most likely will not sell him this winter window.

Mikel’s side are in a race to get a new striker.

At a pre-match press conference ahead of the Man City game, Arteta discussed his thoughts. The manager revealed his side’s transfer possibilities. He delivered a message to the unhappy supporters about the lack of activity in January.

He said: ” I’m very confident with the work the club are doing. We are exploring every opportunity that we believe can have an impact on the team. If we can agree something we will, if not we won’t.”

The Spaniard also discussed how there are various other factors that affect the club’s business in signing new players.

He said: ” We are trying everything that we can but I don’t want to give any hopes or nothing. It doesn’t depend only on us. Our intentions are very clear but the possibilities are affected by the three parties.”

Arsenal has some issues over Vlahovic

Arteta’s large interest in Dusan Vlahovic has been there for a long time.

Arteta previously attempted to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the Serbian player. He ditched them at that time and joined Italian side Juventus.

Juventus plans to sell Vlahovic this summer. According to TBR Football, this shows his time in Turin has been poor.

The Gunners have determined that a Watkins deal can be impossible. They now may reportedly make a offer for the Juventus player this weekend. As per Rudy Galetti’s TeamTalk claims, they may make a move for him.

However, there’s a problem.

Juventus is willing to trade Vlahovic. But they want a proper back-up first. Because they don’t think Randal Kolo Muani alone offers enough attacking support. And there’s plenty of the season still left.

If Juve do find a new forward, they are willing to sell Dusan. They might even let him off for less than his initial price tag of £54.4 million. The Siberian is also interested to a move to the Premier League.

The Gunners hasn’t come to a final decision yet for any signings. But a move for the Siberia international is looking serious. The attacker was named as an ‘extraordinary’ by Dragan Stojkovic in an interview with FIFA.

Dusan Vlahovic and Ollie Watkins comparison

The north London have been tracking Dusan for a while now. Although he hasn’t been their top target in any of their recent windows.

Mikel Arteta has been looking at other options recently. They had a bid for Ollie ahead of the Siberian. That shows that the England international was the top priority.

Vlahovic’s goal ratio is better than Watkins’ this campaign. However, the Aston Villa man is better at creating chances. He likes to create spaces for his teammates around him.

That’s the reason why the Spaniard prefers the England forward. In addition, he is already playing in the Premier League is a big add on.

Although, the move for Villa star could prove impossible. If this is the case, then the club at the Emirates Stadium will look elsewhere. Vlahovic, if available, wouldn’t be a bad option.

Author’s Opinion

It seems that Arsenal will not try to force any signing that they haven’t already properly thought of. Their manager is hopeful that his team will surely make a new signing that will assure the fans.

Now let’s see what happens in the final few days of the winter window this year.
