Arsenal are preparing to break Manchester City’s premier league title winning streak next season. The Gunners have revealed that they will go strong in the upcoming market. Currently the club is linked with 23 year old English defender who plays for Crystal Palace. The name of defender is Marc Guehi. Guehi has already been praised by former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira when he was Crystal Palace manager. The Crystal Palace defender performed well in 2023/24 season and was called up by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024. Guehi didn’t disappoint as he had an amazing performance in England’s Euro opener.
Marc Guehi is a Chelsea academy graduate. However he didn’t get an opportunity to represent the Blues as he was sent on loan by Chelsea. It was in 2021 when Crystal Palace signed Guehi on a five year contract for a fee reported around Ā£18 million. He has been with Palace ever since and earned his place as a regular starter. Guehi has represented Place 98 times in premier league having scored 3 times too. The 23 year old defender also has 12 international appearances to his name.
Arsenal keen to sign Marc Guehi
According to Caught Offside, Newcastle United and Arsenal are both interested to sign the Palace defender. Another premier league club interested in Manchester United. However more clubs across the Europe will be interested in Guehi after watching his amazing performance in Euro opener. If the young defender is able to continue his good form throughout the tornament we may definately see him at big club next season.
Guehi has contract with Crystal Palace until 2026. At the time of his arrival, Guehi became third most expensive signing for Palace. Palace have set his release clause at Ā£50 million. The Gunners could be seen triggering this clause as the will like to utilize Guehi’s leadership skills and strengthen their defense.
Patrick Vieira on Marc Guehi
Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira is a huge admirer of Marc Guehi. Vieira managed Guehi at Crystal Palace. Vieira has a huge trust in Guehi and says that the defender is destined for bright future.
Patrick Viera said back in 2022 that he has been extremely impressed by the way Guehi plays. Arsenal legend said that the defender always works hard and wants the best for his time. Vieira also revealed how much Guehi desires to represent his country.

Vieira also believed that Guehi will get a chance to represent England in the World Cup 2022. However Guehi was unfortunate as experienced players were available at that time. Fortunately Guehi has received an opportunity to represent England in Euro 2024 which the defender has accepted with both hands.
Not just Vieira but also Guehi’s Palace teammate Eberechi Eze has praised him. Eze said that Guehi is extremely mature for his age and is a leader on the pitch. He also said that Guehi is able to do whatever he has been asked to do by the manager.
How good was Guehi against Serbia
Arsenal target Marc Guehi started for England in their Euro 2024 opener. England took on Serbia and emerged victorious. Marc Guehi had an amazing day at office for the three lions.
The 23 year old defender completed 51 of the 53 passes attempted. Guehi won all of his tackles along with making three clearances. England were able to keep a clean sheat and clinch a narrow 1-0 victory. The three lions will hope that Guehi is able to carry this form throughout the tournament and help them secure their first major trophy after 1966.
