Arsenal are considering the signing of ex-Chelsea winger Eden Hazard from Real Madrid, according to Spanish news outlet Defensa Central. The Gunners are looking to reinforce their squad massively as they are in contention to qualify for the Champions League. Hazard’s name has been linked with Arsenal already, but this summer the Gunners are ready to bid for him.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea for a whopping £103 million. Hazard termed it as his dream move after signing for the Los Blancos in 2019. However, his ‘dream move’ hasn’t gone as planned. Hazard’s Madrid career saw him in the hospital more often than the Bernabeu pitch. Moreover, he has failed to emulate his Chelsea form in the Madrid whites. As a result, the Madrid top brass feels that his move has been a disaster.

Real Madrid are also ready to offload Hazard if a substantial offer arrives. Moreover, Real have anticipated that they will have to take a significant cut on the £103 million fees they paid for the Belgian. Arsenal are preparing an offer for Hazard in the summer as the Gunners are reportedly growing confident over striking a deal.

Arsenal transfer to revive ex-Chelsea star Eden Hazard?

Hazard has experienced very torrid two-and-a-half years at Real Madrid. His recurring injuries have forced him to miss a massive 61 games for the Los Blancos. But Hazard has failed to impress in his 65 appearances for the club as well, scoring only 6 goals and assisting 10.

However, a move to Arsenal could reignite his form, should the former Chelsea winger seal a move. Mikel Arteta is building something exciting at the Emirates, with the Gunners staring at Champions League football. The Spaniard can help Hazard get back to his best with Arsenal where he will arguably be the best player on the team sheet.

Arsenal knows Eden Hazard is familiar with the Premier League as well, with his best football coming at Chelsea. The Gunners found themselves on the suffering end of the Belgian’s masterclasses on regular basis. Hazard scored 110 goals and further assisted 92 for Chelsea over 352 appearances. The winger is a proven superstar of the premier league with Chelsea and has a chance to rejuvenate his ailing club career with Arsenal.

Eden Hazard is said to have a close relationship with Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard which could help the Gunners land the Belgian. However, one aspect which could derail the move is Hazard’s salary. He earns a whopping £416,000 per week at Madrid, a paycheque considered risky by Arsenal. Albeit his qualities, splashing such an amount on a 31-year-old who has had recurring injuries is considered too big a gamble to take by the Gunners.

Nevertheless, Arsenal are not the only ones after the ex-Chelsea winger’s signature. Fellow premier league side Newcastle are also an interested party. New manager Eddie Howe wants to bolster the Magpies’ squad as he may get a huge budget for the summer. Howe is keeping a tab on Hazard’s situation, and if the opportunity arises, Newcastle is ready to battle it out with Arsenal for the ex-Chelsea wizard.
