Arsenal held talks for £110k per week midfielder Jorginho’s exit this month as per reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal to have a busy final day of the transfer window
The Gunners’ are expected to have quite busy final 24 hours of the transfer market. The manager Mikel Arteta looks to add and offload from his squad for the remaining half of the season. And now reports suggests that they have held talks over a potential exit of a top player.
A new club is interested over a potential signing of top midfielder before the deadline.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Flamengo have recently asked for the midfielder’s availability over a ‘immediate’ move. They want to sign Jorginho as the new season in Brazil begins.
Reports have that Flamengo’s bid has been rejected by the London club. In addition, it says that there’s no chance for Jorginho to leave this month.
The midfielder’s £110,000 per-week deal is expiring this summer. The Brazilian outfit may again have a chance to look for his signature.
The Italy international joined the London club in 2023 from Chelsea. He arrived for a £12 million deal. He hasn’t been a regular starter under Mikel Arteta. Although, he has been a vital member of the squad for the time he’s been here.
In 2024, his club teammate and the Arsenal record signing, Declan Rice, praised the Italian naming him as a ‘top’ player.
Rice said: “How he controls games he has qualities that other players do not have. Playing in the same position he does stuff at such a high quality and over these years he has been a top player.”
Jorginho on his future at Arsenal
Earlier in January this year, he discussed his future at Arsenal. He said: “My contract is until June and my goal now is to think about the next game. There’s not much to think about, you know?
“Things happen very quickly in football, things can happen overnight, but my mind is on the next game.
“Football is a box of surprises, as we all know, but my goal is to think about the next game. I don’t even look, because it always happens.
“Every window that opens is always chaos, with a lot of information, a lot of things, a lot of talk.
“But if you stop to think about all the talk you always have, then you end up wasting a lot of energy and it ends up effecting your work where you are.
“So my goal, as I said before, is to focus on where I am, which is here today, so that’s it”

The north London side are currently second in the Premier League standings. They are searching to add more artillery to their squad. They are desperate for new arrivals as we are nearing the final few hours of the winter window.

Kieran Tierney will stay this season; however he has agreed a pre-contract to re-join Celtic. He could join the Scotland team after expiry of his current deal in the coming summer.
Author’s Opinion
A move away from the Emirates Stadium for Jorginho will happen in the summer as it seems. He might stay for longer, we don’t know.
He was asked about if he sees his future in Brazil, he said there’s a possibility. So we might see him in the Brazilian League in the future at some stage of his career. As of now he stays with the Gunners.
