Premier League club, Arsenal, are looking to have an updated injury list as another star is looking to go on the sidelines for few weeks. During the match with Greece, England and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has picked up an injury. Although the assessment of the seriousness is due, Mikel Arteta must be having worries about his lineups for upcoming fixtures.
The Gunners had previously lost their skipper Martin Odegaard and now it is not looking good for Saka as well. The winger was seeing limping off the field with English staff in the 52nd minute of the game on Thursday night. It seems that the winger had his hamstrings pulled. Tightness in the area would rule the winger out for a matter of days. Though, a strain will see the forward sidelined for weeks.
England manager gives update on injury of Bukayo Saka
The interim manager of England, Lee Carsley, had his say on the injury of Arsenal forward. He said in the post match interview,
“He’s being assessed. Obviously, in the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg.”
The management in North London will be getting impatient to learn about the seriousness of the injury. They will not be willing to lose Saka after the long-term absence of their skipper Odegaard. Moreover, Saka was having a brilliant start to his season, scoring two and assisting seven goals in first seven games of the league season. He was looking in touch during the game with Greece as well before the destiny ruined his day.
Mikel Arteta will be having worries as the absence of two of the superstars will create a void in terms of creativity on the field. A lengthier spell on sidelines for Bukayo may strip off chances of competing for the Premier League glory for the Gunners. Moreover, a long run of fixtures is also waiting for them once the club football resumes.
What next for Arsenal?
Mikel Arteta’s side will be facing Bournemouth just after the international break before heading into Champions League fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk. Furthermore, they will be hosting their rivals for the title, Liverpool, in a crucial fixture. The run will then take them to St James’ Park to face the challenge of Newcastle United. Another important match scheduled after these tight games is a London derby against Chelsea.
The North Londoners will be hoping that Saka is available for all these vital fixtures to keep their title hopes alive. A broader picture of the injury can be provided on Sunday when England faces Finland. The availability of the 23-year old for the game will be a huge sigh of relief for Arsenal.
Options for Arteta if Saka misses the games?
The fact there is no update as of now about the injury gives fans a dilemma and chance to introspect their options. The Gunners still have a lot of quality waiting on the bench to outplay their opponents. Players like Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard can outscore any defensive line on their day. In addition to this, Kai Havertz is also looking sharp upfront hungry for finding the back of of the net.
Despite the availability of options, the club will hope to see their starboy back on field for the games. If they want to challenge for Europe and domestic league, presence of Saka is unavoidable. The 23-year old is loved by the fans and management and prayers will be with him.
