Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that Mikel Arteta should have rested Bukayo Saka. These comments come after Saka’s cameo against FC Zurich.
The winger returned from a knee injury in the previous game against Nottingham Forest. Hence, many thought that Arteta would give him the rest.
ARSENAL LEGEND NOT HAPPY WITH THE SUBSTITUTE APPEARANCE OF SAKA
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that manager Mikel Arteta should have rested Bukayo Saka against FC Zurich. The winger had an injury to his knee against Nottingham Forest. However, Arteta confirmed that the injury was not a major one. Hence, he was included in the squad for the game against FC Zurich in the Europa League. Although, everyone thought Mikel Arteta will not bring him on. This would have kept him for the game against Chelsea. However, Arteta surprised everybody and brought on Saka.
Hence, Arsenal legend Ian Wright expressed his disappointment. He said,
“It was sad to see. You look at Arsenal and people are already saying he should have been rested by now,”. “We just haven’t got the depth. We still haven’t put teams away enough in the Europa League to be able to rest, we have to play him, whereas you probably would’ve thought he’d get rested against Zurich. “It is a worry because we’re not a million miles away from the World Cup. And more importantly Arsenal need him.
THE GUNNERS NEED A NEW WINGER SIGNING IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
Arsenal need to sign a new right-winger in the January transfer window. This is because Arteta has to bring him on as a substitute in the unimportant games. The game against FC Zurich was unimportant because the Gunners were already qualified for further stages. Hence, Mikel Arteta needs to have a winger signing that can play in these type of games in the absence of Bukayo Saka.
The Gunners are currently linked with the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk and Facundo Torres. Hence, Arteta needs to be given funds to complete one of the two signings. He also can focus on the signing of Jesper Lindstrom. This is because the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder can also play as a right-winger. Hence, the potential signings have the ability to increase the squad depth of the Arsenal team for the rest of the season.
Arsenal will also hope that their important players do not get injured in the FIFA World Cup this year. They are currently at the top of the Premier League. Hence, Mikel Arteta needs to make signings that will make the squad more dangerous and attacking for the rest of the season.
