Arsenal loanees got valuable minutes under their belt for their respective clubs. However, a number of other players failed to make an impact for their loan clubs.
Hence, the Gunners decided to recall them to send them on loan to a different club. Although, players like Arthur Okonkwo and Charlie Patino continue to impress on their loan spells.
ARSENAL’S YOUNG PLAYERS CONTINUE TO GET VALUABLE PLAYING MINUTES ON LOAN
Arsenal young players that are on loan got valuable minutes under their belt. However, not all of them played. Many of them also suffered shock losses. Although, a number of them got famous wins under them. The first of them is Charlie Patino. He played brilliantly for Blackpool in the shock 4-1 win against Nottingham Forest. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona and other top European clubs are monitoring this situation. The Gunners have also activated his 1-year extension in his existing contract. This means that he cannot leave on free the next summer.
Another bright one for the Arsenal was on loan to Crewe Alexander Arthur Okonkwo. He performed brilliantly in a 0-0 draw against AFC Wimbledon. This means he got two consecutive clean sheets. Alex Kirk on loan to Ayr helped them secure a 1-0 win against Hamilton. This was also his first appearance since his major ankle injury. He started his first game in 3 months. However, it got bad to worse for Nicolas Pepe on loan to OGC Nice. They suffered a shock 1-0 loss in their cup competition against third-tier team Le Puy Foot 43 Auvergne. Hence, this also led to Nice sacking manager Lucien Favre from his job.
THE GUNNERS ARE ALSO EXPECTING CASH WINDFALLS IN THE NEXT SEASON FROM CERTAIN LOAN PLAYERS
Arsenal are out of favor players Ainsley Maitland Niles and Pablo Mari on loan at Southampton and AC Monza respectively performed brilliantly for their respective teams. Maitland Niles helped Southampton beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup. Whereas, Pablo Mari helped Monza draw 2-2 against Inter Milan. This was his first start after recovering back from the knife-attack injury. Pablo Mari loan deal also has an obligation buy clause. It means that AC Monza will have to buy him for 7 million if they can avoid relegation this season.
The newly promoted Serie A side are currently sitting 15th comfortably on the Serie A table. Hence, it looks like there is a chance that Arsenal will get the 7 million fees. However, not is all good for the loan players. Miguel Azeez on loan with second-division Spanish club UD Ibiza was recalled by the Gunners. Hence, the Gunners are hoping to find a new loan club for him in the January transfer window. Brooke Norton-Cuffy was also recalled from Rotherham United. However, he was immediately loaned to Coventry City.
Hence, it is clear that Arsenal are finding actively loan option for their young and fringe players. They will also hope to loan out players like Marquinhos and Albert Sambi-Lokonga for the rest of the season. This will help both of the players get regular game time in the second half of the season. Whereas, this will also make space for the Gunners to register their new signings.
