Arsenal are focused on signing a striker in January to strengthen their forward line. Their current strikers are not delivering as expected and are costing the Gunners some important points. Arsenal have to solve this problem as soon as possible to not end up outside of the top four again.

Alexandre Lacazette’s contract with Arsenal is expiring next summer. Moreover, he is also not providing regular goals and not scoring 20 goals a season. Edward Nketiah recently scored a hattrick but is linked with a move away from the club due to lack of game time. Aubameyang was scrapped of his captaincy and is likely to leave Arsenal in January due to disciplinary issues.

Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic are one of the main targets of Arsenal for a January signing. Martinez has been showing his quality for the past few seasons now. On the other hand, Vlahovic is the man in form right now scoring 18 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, both strikers will be in great demand in the market because of their qualities. Many big clubs may try to sign Martinez or Vlahovic. Moreover, both the players are priced very high because of their great form and what they offer to the club. Therefore, Arsenal will have to offer a lucrative deal to either of the strikers to get their service at the Emirates Stadium.

Why does Arsenal need to sign a striker in January?

Most of the Arsenal strikers are either running out of contract or leaving the club soon. Therefore, to avoid a transition phase again in that department, Arsenal must quickly make a signing to cover for the players who are leaving. Moreover, Arsenal are mostly scoring goals through their midfielders and wingers. A good striker can ease the burden of the midfielders and also of Arsenal in general. In addition, the Gunners will have to get a proven goalscorer as they did not have a good experience with Aubameyang and Lacazette in the long term.

Lautaro Martinez has been scoring goals on a regular basis for a few consecutive seasons now. Many clubs were interested in signing the Argentine but have failed to negotiate a further deal. Moreover, Lautaro will also be ready to listen to offers as Inter have signed Edin Dzeko who is in form and hard to replace.

Dusan Vlahovic has caught the sight of everyone in Europe as he has not stopped scoring since stepping out on the pitch this season. Many clubs will battle for his signature and Arsenal will have to work harder to secure his services. Signing Vlahovic may even be tougher than signing Lautaro Martinez at the moment.

Arsenal must sign a striker in January because if they fail to do so and lose a spot in the top four. As a result, many players will be reluctant to join Arsenal due to lack of Champions League football. Moreover, they will need a bit more help to finish in the top four and also in cup competitions. They have to minimize the transition phase time by signing a replacement even before the player leaves. This January transfer window can see Arsenal make a marquee signing.
