Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has told Albert-Sambi Lokonga to let his performances do the talking. AC Milan were reportedly ready to loan him in the summer.
However, the midfielder decided to stay at the club this summer. Another reason was also that the Gunners were unable to bring a new midfielder in.
ARSENAL’S MANAGER GIVES A CLEAR MESSAGE TO THE BELGIAN MIDFIELDER
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Albert Sambi-Lokonga to let his performances do the talking. The Belgian midfielder signed for the club the last season. However, he has failed to live up to expectations. There were also reports claiming that he would be sold in this summer transfer window. However, the Belgian ended up staying at the club. Although, he made it clear that he was not happy with the lack of game time this season.
However, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that the fringe players like Lokonga needs to perform consistently. He further said,
“Play them and then speak on the pitch, that’s the best way.”
The Arsenal manager further said on Lokonga,
” We will see more and he needs to prove that what he’s asking for, he can produce on the pitch. And that’s the challenge for every single player, to raise the level and put the right competition in the team. You have to perform in a way to help the team win games.
ALBERT SAMBI-LOKONGA MUST MAKE A DECISION ON HIS FUTURE IN THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW
According to reports, Arsenal are looking to bring in a new midfielder in the January transfer window. Hence, the potential signing will make Lokonga the third-choice midfielder. Therefore, becoming a third-choice midfielder would be damaging to his career at this stage. Hence, he must make a decision on his future in January to revive his career.
AC Milan are reportedly still monitoring his situation. They were interested in loaning him in the summer transfer window. However, the injuries to Martin Odegaard and Mohamed Elneny made it impossible for any kind of deal. The midfielder also said in an interview that his agent advised him to stay at Arsenal till January. However, he told him to keep an eye on his game-time situation.
The best idea at the moment is for Arsenal must try to sign a new midfielder in January. It is unlikely that Albert-Sambi Lokonga will stay at the club. Hence, the best solution for both parties at the moment is a permanent transfer or a loan deal with the option to make it permanent.
