According to several reports, Arsenal have rejected a bid for Mohamed Elneny made by Galatasaray on the Turkish deadline day. The Gunners boss Mikel Arteta didn’t give approval for the transfer as he considers the Egyptian part of his season plan. Following which Mohamed Elneny is staying at Arsenal this season with his contract expiring next summer.

The Egyptian midfielder joined the gunner’s side back in 2016 from Swiss club FC Basel. Getting a good start at the Arsenal camp, Mohamed Elneny headed to a bumpier road in the 2018/19 season. As because the gunners appointed new coach Unai Emery who found it hard to place Elneny in the playing eleven. Following which he was listed for transfer which eventually led to a season-long deal with Turkish giants Besiktas.

Upon his return to the Arsenal after the loan deal he had to face a new coach as the club replaced Emery with Mikel Arteta. But this time there was no bumper road as Arteta seemed to like the Egyptian in the midfield. And playing under Arteta in 2020/21, Elneny made 41 appearances, scoring 3 goals. And to date, the midfielder has made 132 appearances for gunners, scoring 5 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.

But his time at Arsenal seems to be near an end as his contract ends next summer. Following his contract issues, Galatasaray tried to sign Elneny this summer hoping to get him at a low price. However, their plan failed as Arsenal rejected the bid for Mohamed Elneny despite having to let him go free next summer. The main reason why the gunners rejected the offer is Mikel Arteta who seemed to trust the Egyptian in the midfield this season.

What about Mohamed Elneny’s future?

Mohamed Elneny who has been associated with Arsenal since 2016 may have a different plan next season. With his contract ending next summer, the midfielder is free to negotiate with any club he wants from coming January. And with interest from Galatasaray, it seems likely he would have a return back to the Turkish league next season.

Already having experience playing in the Turkish League where he played for Besiktas, it will not be hard for him to adapt to the changes. However, if Arteta continues to manage Arsenal and sees Elneny perform well the plan might change. As then the Spanish coach might force the board to table a new contract for the midfielder. So, let’s wait and see what the future holds for Mohamed Elneny.
