Ethan Nwaneri has proven himself to be Arsenal’s Player of the Month for February and has earned the respect of Arsenal fans. So, After the 54 percent who voted for him beat off Gabriel, Mikel Merino and Jurrien Timber, this was his first club award. Not bad being a teenager that probably still has to show a form of ID to go see a movie.
The Month That Made a Star
It had been nothing but magical for Nwaneri in February. And he did start brightly, with the kind of goal Arsenalโs strikers would go into idol in nowadays: curling in the kind of finish that would make even the hardened of the pros jealous. He curled a beauty around Stefan Ortega, who was hoping to have stayed home.
His first Premier League assist came with another milestone. He provided a delicious cross to Mikel Merino, who nodded home at Leicester. Nwaneri may be able to arrange bars on the ball, but that does not mean he canโt connect while it matters, and the goal set Arsenal on the road to another important win.
And in the Champions League, he added the all-important goal against PSV Eindhoven. He put him on seven and that took his season tally to eight goals to put him in the same teenage record books as Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney. Maybe it will be enough to start calling him Ethan the Phenomenonโฆ
Why Arsenal Fans Love Ethan Nwaneri
It’s special to watch a young one rise through the ranks and take the football world by storm. Nwaneri is not just an Arsenal fan’s new hope; his talent and confidence, as well as his work ethos and joy towards the game, have won praise from the Gunners’ supporters. His play reminds me of a seasoned pro, but he wears that happiness of somebody who just comes across an extra chicken nugget, and it’s pure and it’s the real deal when he plays.
The way he glides past defenders, picks out the key passes and finishes with finesse is exactly the sort of thing thatโs perfectly suited to Arsenalโs attacking way. Plus, even the ardent Premier League worshipper is here for a wonderkid schooling league veterans on how to play the game.
