Arsenal set for a cash grab in the form of Lautaro Martinez

Arsenal Martinez, Six Sports

Arsenal are in talks with Inter Milan over Lautaro Martinez. Arsenal are eyeing a steal as they can buy Martinez for 58.5m.

With Lacazette leaving, Arsenal are in the market for forwards. In fact, Arsenal wants two forwards in the summer. Talks emerged between Martinez and Arsenal last year. He ended up staying in Italy with Inter Milan where signed a new contract that extended his term until 2026.

In the absence of Aubameyang and with Nketiah and Lacazette leaving in the summer, Martinez could prove to be the perfect person to start the attack. However, Arsenal are going to face competition from Barcelona, Manchester United, and other top clubs.

Martinez’s agent speaks

Martinez agent Alejandro Camano has spoken about the 24-year-old’s future. He said that Martinez is happy at San Siro and wants to continue there for the time being.

He further said,

“Lautaro doesn’t think about himself, he only thinks about Inter. He wants to help and wants fans to be happy. Inter haven’t scored many goals lately, but it’s just a process and will return to scoring, that’s for sure. Lautaro wants Inter to win, he is not interested in personal success. We must remain calm because Lautaro is happy at Inter and is happy with Inter fans.”

This could change within a year and Martinez could eye a change of scenery. Arsenal could swoop in then and sign Martinez. According to sources, Inter are likely to allow Martinez to leave if they receive an offer near 58.5m. Earlier, Martinez was valued at 76m by Inter, however, his price has dropped. This would mean that Arsenal will be able to save at least 18m by signing him this year.
