Arsenal setting their eyes on Dominic Solanke

Arsenal’s sporting director Edu along with manager Mikel Arteta are desperately looking for a new striker. Gunners were linked to various strikers over the past months but no deal advanced to further talks. Recently Benjamin Sesko was heavily linked and it was looking confident that the Slovenian international might arrive to North London. However Sesko has recently signed a new deal with RB Leipzig. Gunners now are monitoring the other options available. Recently they have been linked to striker who scored 19 goals in Premier League this season. Bournemouth may lose their star striker Dominic Solanke if Arsenal decide to make a move for him.

What happened to Sesko move

Arsenal were very close to sign Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners were continuously in contact with RB Leipzig and even offered £55 million to meet Sesko’s release clause. However the German club had other plans. Sesko has signed new contract offered by Leipzig which extends his time at Germany until 2029. The Slovenian international revealed the reason behind his extension was that he is very happy currently at the club. The collapse of this move has been a huge blow for Arsenal as they were working on it for a very long time.

Arsenal now monitoring Solanke

After the failure in signing Sesko, the Gunners are now monitoring all the other options available. Before Sesko, Arsenal were linked to Viktor Gyokeres who had amazing season with Sporting CP. They were also linked with Alexander Isak. However, both of these targets would have costed high and hence no futher talks were reported. Same was the case with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney’s move to Emirates also seem very unlikely to happen.

Arsenal are now linked with Bournemouth’s striker who just had an amazing season. It is believed that Bournemouth have a fear of losing Solanke if Arsenal decide to advance with the deal. It was earlier revealed by The Athletic that Solanke has a £65 million release clause in his contract. The 20% of the profit made by Bournemouth by Solanke’s sell would be received by his former club Liverpool. Eddie Nketiah who is on his way away from Emirates is reported to be sold for around £30 million. Therefore, making a move for Solanke won’t be extremely hard for Gunners.

Arsenal’s plans of signing a new striker could be fulfilled with Solanke who also has a huge experience in England. Due to his awesome performance in 2023/24 season the 26 year old striker has caught a lot of attention. Along with Arsenal, Solanke has been monitored by another London club for whom Solanke has already played earlier in his career. Chelsea are thinking about making a move for their academy graduate. It may not be an easy task for Chelsea as the Blues are on the verge of breaching profitability and sustainability rules. However, Solanke still remains their option as they desperately need a striker before the begining of next season.

Solanke’s time at Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth signed Dominic Solanke from Liverpool in January of 2019 for £19 million. Solanke took 39 appearances to score his first goal for Bournemouth. However he has been clinical ever since and has managed to score 72 league goals for The Cherries. The 2023/24 season has been very good for the 26 year old striker. Solanke has scored 19 goals along with providing 3 assists in the Premier League. He finished on fourth position in the list of top goalscorers. Bournemouth don’t want to lose him after such an amazing performance and earlier were very confident about Solanke staying. However they might lose him if any big club makes a move in summer.
