Arsenal should be ready for the bids for Matt Turner in the January transfer window. The claims was made by former Tottenham player Brad Friedel.
However, the Gunners have no intention of selling their second-choice goalkeeper. Although, there are chances that a bid will be made for USA international.
THE RISE OF THE USA INTERNATIONAL AT ARSENAL
Arsenal signed Matt Turner from the MLS side New England Revolution in the summer transfer window. It was clear from the start that he would be the second choice to Aaron Ramsdale. However, the goalkeeper has impressed the Gunners coaching staff. Many thought that he would have problems settling with the Premier League giants. However, the goalkeeper now regularly pushes Ramsdale in terms of performance.
Hence, the goalkeeper has started in all the Europa League games. He is also going to certainly play in the FA Cup games and the Carabao Cup games. Hence, he will have the chance to start a good amount of games for Arsenal this season. Although, it is going to be difficult for him to replace Ramsdale in the starting line-up of the Premier League games this season.
THE FUTURE OF MATT TURNER WITH THE GUNNERS
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel has claimed that Matt Turner will attract bids in the January transfer window. He has also claimed that Turner is too good as a second-choice goalkeeper. Hence, he thinks Arsenal will have to be ready to brace for bids. Although, there is no suggestion from elsewhere that the Gunners are ready to sell him.
Brad Friedel also said,
“Time will tell if it’s the right decision [for Turner to move to Arsenal].“When you’re in the MLS, this is what I’ll say – it’s hard to turn down a club like Arsenal coming in for you, but when you move and you’re as good as Matt Turner, I’d like to think that you would move and you’re being told that you were going to be the number one which obviously wasn’t the case at Arsenal. “Matt’s a heck of a nice guy and a heck of a good goalkeeper.
At the moment, it looks like Matt Turner is happy at Arsenal. He has also said that he is learning so much under the management of Mikel Arteta. However, if he keeps on putting in brilliant performances in his limited game time, top European clubs will surely make bids for him.
