According to Football London, Arsenal are targeting Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad. Arsenal sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, as the gunners are looking to further improve their squad. Calafiori made his name after his breakout season under Thiago Motta for Bologna. This was a historic season for Bologna and Thiago Motta after they managed to secure Champions League football for next season. However we are not lucky enough to see this same Bologna squad in the Champions League next season. Thiago Motta confirmed his move to Juventus earlier this summer. This was a very shocking decision by the manager as everyone expected him to stay for another season. However the offer from Juventus was too good for the manager to refuse. After seeing their manager leave the club many players also decided to leave. Calafiori is one of the players after his move to Premier League confirmed by the gunners.
Arsenal will also be looking forward for the next season. After missing out on winning the Premier League twice in a row, they are under immense pressure. No matter what anyone says Arsenal are surely a world class team now. However they are also the most unlucky team in the world. Like other Premier League teams Arsenal are also suffering the faith of having Pep Guardiola and Manchester City in their league. Last season Manchester City ended up winning the Premier League again in a very close title race. They have now win the Premier League for three consecutive years. This is now some amazing domination by Pep Guardiola and his squad. Arsenal are not the first team who have suffered this faith. Liverpool also know the pain of losing the league title to Manchester City with a close margin. Arteta can become the new Klopp if things remain same.

Manchester City are surely a world class team. However last season we saw that they are not invincible. Manchester City won three league titles including a treble previously. They had the chance to repeat this glory however they lost to Real Madrid in Champions League quater final. The match went to an intense penalty shootout where Antonio Rudiger win it for Real Madrid. Moreover Manchester City ended up losing the FA cup final against Manchester United. After having a disappointing season in the league finishing at eighth place in the table. Manchester United really silenced their doubters after the FA cup win. This victory also secured the job for Erik Ten Hag. Arsenal will also want to do something similar next season to end Manchester City’s domination. Gunners will be looking to improve their squad for next season and Merino will be great addition.
Mikel Merino announced his name to the world after scoring injury time winner against hosts Germany. Merino is the man who spoiled Toni Kroos’s farewell. Merino also has some experience in the Premier League after his small stint for Newcastle United. Real Sociedad will be expecting a fee of £20million from the Gunners for the Euro winner. The player can surely shine under Mikel Arteta with his work ethic and versatility going forward. Merino has also showed his great mentality and discipline towards the game during his campaign with Spain. Arsenal will be going against their transfer policy of signing young players to sign Merino. However the player’s winner mentality can really help motivate the youngsters for the next season.
