New sporting director at Arsenal

The Gunners are now looking at plenty of candidates for their new sporting director at the club. The position is vacant at the moment. They are aiming to replace Edu Gasper in the month of March.

Edu’s decision shocked many given his contributions. The key role he had in helping Mikel Arteta‘s goal to set off the ground. He was the side’s first ever technical director. Later, he become the sporting director. But he chose to leave the job last year in November.

As per multiple reports, the Brazilian has taken on a major position for Evangelos Marinakis and his array of clubs.

In the meantime, the role has been temporarily filled in by Edu’s former assistant Jason Ayto. He is now the side’s interim sporting director. Also he’s being seen as one of the top options to take the role full-time.

The north London is considering to make some changes inside the outfit as per reports. After they failed to sign a new striker in the January transfer window, they’re aware that they must improve their recruitment strategy. They’re willing to make these changes at the end of the season.

Their attempt to not sign a single player in the winter window has turned out to be a failure. With injuries and no new arrivals, they are now facing some huge issues in the squad. The summer will be looked at very seriously by the team. They’ll look to make the most of it.

Jason Ayto is now the interim sporting director of Arsenal

Edu Gasper’s former assistant as been given his role on a temporary basis as of time. He is considered as the right man to take the job full-time. Although, the teams inability to bring in a finisher in January has proven very costly. That has totally affected their run for the Premier League title this campaign.

The English side is need of new attacking options at the moment. But they opted to trust in their available bunch of players. That has led to huge striker crisis at the club. With injuries to key players, they’re left with very limited options. Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz have already missed a lot of games this season.

They also chose not to sign any free agents in these desperate times. That means they will have to wait for the summer transfer window. This has led to many doubting whether Ayto is the right man for the job on a full-time terms.

The Gunners have shortlisted four candidates for the key role

As per reports by The Athletic, the London team has identified four top candidates to take over the position. While the current job holder, Ayto still in race for the role. However, he will have to fight hard for the position it seems.

Few experienced men such as Dan Ashworth, Andrea Berta, Roberto Olabe, and Thiago Scuro are other names running for the job. Everyone of these figures have a good track record in football operations. Arsenal will have to take a right call after proper assessment.

In the coming weeks, the side will come to the final decision. They’ll carefully assess their preferred options and finally appoint the right person. The new appointee must provide leadership, stability and management, which was seen lacking for a while.
