Calvert-Lewin is one of the first names on Arteta’s list. Considering Arsenal’s form this season, The board would be more than willing to go all out for the striker. There have been rumors surrounding Arsenal forwards Lacazette and Nketiah to leave in the summer. This could leave the Gunners without a proper experienced forward. Arteta believes Calvert-Lewin could fill that position.
According to reports, West Ham United have shown interest in the Toffees striker as well. Arsenal may have to outbid West ham in the summer.
Calvert-Lewin’s season was filled with injuries. The Toffees have found it difficult to score goals this season owing to their awful form and inability to finish in the final third in his absence.
He was on fire at the beginning of the season, He scored 3 goals in 3 matches however everything went downhill from there. He has failed to find the net for 7 consecutive appearances since coming back from injury.
It was last season where Calvert-Lewin became a dominant force in the final third. Under the legendary Carlo Ancelotti, he managed to find the back of the net 21 times in 39 appearances for the Toffees.
Should Arsenal sign him?
Calvert-Lewin has been in terrible form this season. One could make an argument that this was due to injuries. At the moment, this does not seem like a good signing for the Gunners. Unless Arteta manages to help him bring back the form that made him a prolific striker.
Calvert-Lewin has been a lifelong Thierry Henry fan. Idolizing the French forward, this does seem like a match made in heaven. In the end, everything rests in Arteta‘s hand, only if he could help him regain his form.
