Arsenal To Sign ‘Record-Breaking’ Watkins Alternative

Reportedly, Arsenal are looking at a ‘record-breaking’ alternative for Aston Villa’s striker.

Arsenal to defy all odds

Arsenal are to do the unbelievable to sign Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. The Ollie Watkins deal seems unlikely, as per the Mirror.

The Gunners have spent the whole January month in search of a striker. Their quest became serious when Gabriel Jesus got ruled out for the rest of the season. He was sidelined with an ACL injury earlier this month.

Kai Havertz is the only senior forward in the squad after Jesus’ absence. The German international has struggled across the campaign. Some have questioned that whether the player is suited for the position or not. Due to which there are reports of the Gunners still looking for other options.

Mikel Arteta shared his thoughts midway in January that they are in desperate need of a new attacking option. After injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, they are searching for options in the market.

Talking to TNT Sports when asked about signing a new forward, he said: “Yes, for sure, because we lost two big players. Bukayo, who could be out for up to three months. And then Gabby, who will be out for a long, long, long time.

“We are going to try (in this window) for sure and we are actively looking. We will try. Let’s see what we can get.”

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Man City game, he said: ” We are trying everything we can on the market.

“Ollie Watkins? You know I’m not going to talk about any individuals. we are actively looking proactively to find a solution in that position. Let’s see what the market brings.”

Arsenal committed in Mathys Tel

The north London side could face some big competition from other clubs. As per reports earlier in January, Tel wants to leave Bayern Munich. The ‘record-breaking’ France international has had very limited game time under Vincent Kompany. He wants to play regularly. That may be the reason he is keen for a new chapter in his career.

Ollie Watkins appears to be Arsenal’s primary striker target. Aston Villa rejected their £60 million bid for the player. Now, they’re planning to make a second offer. The England forward’s’s deal isn’t impossible, but may be hard to complete. The Villans’ Jhon Duran is set leave for Al-Nassr. They need to hold on to Ollie. He remains their only out-and-out first choice.

It may happen that the London side fails in their pursuit to sign the England international. Then they’ll try to get Munich’s Tel. They would likely face competiton from other Premier League sides Man Utd and Chelsea. Although, the Gunners may have the advantage.

Watkins’ dream of playing for his boyhood club

Ollie Watkins is currently facing personal dilemma as Mikel Arteta’s side looking to advance their efforts to sign him. The forward has been linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium since Monday. Although he may now feel that he’s already missed his chance for playing for his boyhood club.

The Englishman could be left with a now or never situation regarding his move to Arsenal. Arteta’s team made an inquiry for the Aston Villa attacker on Monday. The bid was swiftly declined by the Midlands club. Villa’s situation has become more difficult with their other main forward Jhon Duran set to leave to Saudi Pro League for a £70 million move to Al-Nassr. The Villans’ would certainly not sell both in the same window.
