According to Sky Sports, these will be some of the latest Arsenal transfer updates for the upcoming season. The first signing that Arsenal confirmed this summer is the Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian defender got his breakout season under Thiago Motta with Bologna. The defender helped Bologna qualify for Champions League football next season. Calafiori also gained popularity after he got picked up by Italian national team for Euro 24. Italy could not perform very well in the tournament however Calafiori played his part to get a big club move this summer. Arsenal had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season. Arsenal’s boss Mikel Arteta will hope to continue this defensive record and decided to sign Calafiori. The defensive duo of William Saliba and Gabriel looks to be untouchable at the moment in the team. Riccardo Calafiori will most probably take up the left back position.
Arteta is a lucky manager when it comes to making signings. Most of his signings like Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard turned out to be great success for the club. However to keep making new signings Arsenal will also have to sell some players to avoid the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League. These rules states that no club can use the revenue generated from sponsors or other streams of income for transfer business. The revenue generated from player sales can only be used in the transfer window. It is now confirmed that former Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has signed for Al Jazira on a free transfer. The players contract with the London club was expired and he moved to Saudi League. It is reported that many other Arsenal players will also be reportedly leaving the club this summer. Arteta will look to make more signings this summer.
Some more Arsenal transfer updates
Arsenal are also expecting Eddie Nketiah to leave the club this summer. The player does not find himself included in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the next season. Marseille have offered a transfer fee of £17m for Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah. The talks between both the clubs are currently going on. Moreover Nketiah is currently travelling with Arsenal for their pre season tour. The player was also featured in both the matches Arsenal have played till now. Arsenal are also not sure for the move of Spanish Euro star Mikel Merino. Mikel Arteta and Arsenal were looking for a versatile option in the squad. Merino also has a great work ethic which is appreciated by Arteta. However signing the Spanish player can go out of their policy of signing young players. This deal is currently not off however Arsenal are not treating this as a priority.
Arsenal are also eyeing a move for Leroy Sane in the coming future. It is clear that Arsenal wants to sign another winger to provide competition to Saka. Their current target was Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. However the winger is more interested in signing for Barcelona and his deal with Arsenal can be very well off. Arsenal will try to go for Sane in case the player wants to leave Bayern Munich in the future. Emile Smith Rowe will also be leaving the club this summer. This is a very shocking decision after Arsenal is the player’s boyhood club. However the player believes his future will be better at Fulham under Marco Silva. The player has also left the pre season tour with Arsenal which can confirm his transfer. The player will soon arrive to Fulham for his medical as well. This summer will be an exciting one for Arsenal.
