Arsenal host Manchester City at the Emirates stadium on match week 25 of the Premier League. Manchester City are on a 17 games unbeaten streak.
Arsenal vs Manchester City: Preview
Kieran Tierney could make his first start in more than a month when Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The left-back had been out of action since January with lower leg discomfort, but on Thursday night he made his comeback against Benfica by coming out of the bench. Tierney could start against Man City on Sunday as an arsenal host to the leaders of the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta is likely to change his side after the Benfica draw in Rome on Thursday. Rob Holding might come to the defense, while Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli, and Nicolas Pepe are all pushing to start in Mikel’s starting 11. Arteta has several headaches to choose from, given that Arsenal has a busy schedule, which includes the second leg of its last-32 Europa League tie with Benfica next Thursday. And, given that Arsenal are 10th in the Premier League, winning the Europa League looks like their best bet to get back to the Champions League.
Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal, Pep Guardiola got a double midfield injury boost. In recent weeks, Gundogan has been arguably the country’s best player, scoring 11 goals in his last 11 appearances.
After finding the net twice against Tottenham last weekend. They forced the German off, but Guardiola confirmed he ought to be ready to return.
“He is much, much better. It is not a big issue, but to avoid risk [against Everton], we have given him a few more days to recover,” he told City’s official website. “But for Arsenal and Borussia Monchengladbach, he should be ready. Of course, Gundo is exceptional.
We spoke about that. If you want to win titles and finals, we need the entire squad.” John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko were both unused substitutes against the Toffees and could come into the back four, while Sergio Aguero will probably be on the bench once more, with Guardiola determined not to rush his return.
