Arsenal want to sign a striker this summer

Although Arsenal have Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, they are still searching for another forward. Overall, the Gunners had a pretty wonderful season, however, they did not manage to get hold of any trophy.

Initially, Arsenal got out of the Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. They lost with a 3-2 aggregate. Moreover, they fought a tough title race with Manchester City till the last day but fell three points short. Although Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz did well as Arsenal’s goal scorers, the Gunners are still hunting for a better striker.

Ahead of the summer window, Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Sesko have been linked with moves to Arsenal. Moreover, another candidate that has been linked with a move to the Emirates is the Inter Milan star, Lautaro Martinez.

Inter Milan don’t want to lose Lautaro Martinez

The Argentinian was brilliant for the Italian club this season. Martinez scored 24 goals in 33 games in the Serie A. His performance was better than Kai Havertz’s and Gabriel Jesus’ combined. Additionally, his goal involvements were 34 this campaign, three less than the Arsenal duo’s total goal involvements. The World Cup winner has been better than the German and Brazilian without a doubt. However, the Italian champions had an excellent campaign and won’t want to let go of him easily. Losing Martinez will be a big blow for their squad but may also help them free up some funds. Additionally, Inter Milan are also facing financial issues. Therefore Arsenal’s bid of £77 million could tempt the Italian side.

Simone Inzaghi is not worried about Martinez’ future at Inter Milan

Lautaro Martinez’s contract with Inter Milan is until June 2026. Although the Italian side do not have to rush for a contract extension they do not want to waste much time on the negotiation. Moreover, the club will undergo transition in the next few weeks with the entry of the new owner, Oaktree. Therefore, the Inter Milan captain’s contract extension will be postponed. However, their manager, Simone Inzaghi said that he is not worried about Martinez’ future. Additionally, the Inter Milan CEO, Beppe Marotta, spoke about Martinez’s situation and said that he is confident about the Argentinian’s future at Inter Milan.

Beppe Marotta said,

“There’s no worry. These are negotiations with dynamics that are typical of the world of football. We start off with an important consideration: Lautaro has a strong sense of belonging at this club and in this city. That will certainly make it easier for us in negotiations with his agent.”

The Inter CEO further spoke about the ownership changing from Sunning to Oaktree. Additionally, Marotta is confident about the new owners. He also mentioned that Oaktree wants to give the team stability and continuity. Furthermore, the team could achieve a lot more next season if they continue getting the results they got this season. If the club manage to keep Martinez and make a few purposeful signings in the upcoming transfer window, they could surely be even more successful.
