Ashwin demands batters be given out when they attempt to switch hit and miss

Senior India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin talked about implementing a new rule in cricket.

Ashwin on his YouTube channel talked about LBW to a batsman after missing the switch hit.

Ashwin said this because he saw Joe Root continuously playing the reverse sweep.

He then recalled the Oval Test and praised Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling where he completely put the English batters under pressure.

Jadeja kept creating pressure which ultimately gave him the scalp of Haseeb Hameed.

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow led England to a series-levelling win against India by chasing down a record target of 378.

Jasprit Bumrah too played a huge role during the Oval Test but Ashwin feels that Jadeja should also receive his due amount of praise for bowling superbly in that match.

So, when a batsman reverse sweeps, he sort of faces a blind spot in which he cannot see the ball pitching outside the leg stump when in his original stance.

But, Ashwin remarked that Root shifted his position from a right-hander to a left-hander.

This was why he was able to see the ball clearly and was not in a blind spot.

This is why Ashwin wants batsmen to be given LBW when they attempt switch hits.

He also felt that this rule should be applicable to all three formats of the game so as to maintain some parity between bowling and batting.
