Ashwin presents a special gift to Ajaz Patel

India comfortably won the last match of the 2 match Test Series against the Kiwis in Mumbai. The series victory helped them reclaim the 1st spot in the ICC Test rankings dethroning the Blackcaps. New Zealand had a disastrous outing in the Wankhede stadium. In the absence of key players like Kane Williamson, the team looked a pale shadow of their original selves. However, it was the Mumbai-born Kiwi spinner who stole the show in the 2nd Test. Ajaz Patel became a member of the elite Laker-Kumble club to have claimed all the 10 scalps in a single inning.

Patel also scripted history by recording the 2nd best bowling figures by Kiwi bowler in Tests. His 14-225 is the second-best to Sir Richard Hadlee’s 15-123 against Australia in Brisbane. Patel’s achievement heap praise from several legends of the game.

Another spinner who dominated the series was ace cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin. He once again bagged a Player of the Series award for his outstanding performance with the red ball.

Ashwin in a great sporting gesture presented Patel with an Indian Test jersey autographed by all the Indian players as a mark of respect.
