Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll suffered an unfortunate accident ruling him out of the pre-season testing.

Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll recently suffered injuries during training. The team clarified that the accident was a “minor” one. However, the Canadian will not be able to drive and is ruled out of the pre-season testing that starts in Bahrain this week.

The team stated that Stroll is undergoing a “quick recovery”.

“Whilst pre-season training on a bicycle in Spain, Lance Stroll was involved in a minor accident and sustained injuries which will result in him sitting out the pre-season test in Bahrain.

“Lance is, however, expecting to make a quick recovery and return to driving duties. His fitness to return to the cockpit will be assessed daily and the team will issue an update ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

“The team wishes Lance a speedy recovery and looks forward to his usual energy and commitment within the team.”

Regardless, the team has officially announced the replacement for the recovering Stroll. Fernando Alonso will share the Aston Martin garage with Felipe Drugovich on Thursday.

Drugovich is the 2022 Formula 1 World Champion. The Brazilian will drive the Aston Martin car in the morning on Thursday. Alonso will take over for Aston Martin in the evening later that day.

The team will be confirming the schedule for Friday and Saturday soon.
